Ok, I give up on the low carb diet. Yes, you can lose weight quickly, but you just have to give up too much. If you have one little "no no", bam, the weight comes right back on. So, I guess I'll go back to low fat, low cal. At least this way I can have fruit again. I really missed my fruit. Sigh. I also need to get off of my dead butt and exercise. That should be a four letter word. I hate to sweat.

Well, for motivation, I look in the mirror at the rotund being I've become.
I count carbs. My insulin therapy is based on carb count....it indicates how much to use. You still count calories....but with carbs, the amount of sugar is added in with the starches.
Exercise makes the insulin work better because the body becomes more receptive. And too, A loss in weight lessens the need for insullin.
Fruits? You betchya. At another meal, allow for the sugar content. If you get a diabetic chart that shows the carbohydrate amount in servings of various foods, it may help in your decisions.
With exercise & Diet, I've lost 18 pounds in the last year. Only 50 pound to go!
And don't smoke

I couldn't stay on low carb either. I managed 4 weeks, but like you, the "no fruit" really got to me... I need more variety than just apricots and strawberries!
I'm now on my own diet, calorie restricted, low fat, reduced carb diet. I let myself eat carbs for breakfast and lunch but I cut it out at night, so no pasta or rice for dinner (but vegetables ok). It's working slowing... yay! and I think this is something I can stick to.

Good for you Pengie. Let us know how it works for you in the long run. I'm thinking about the Southbeach diet. It's monitoring carbs, but nothing like Atkins. Good luck, and Merry Christmas.
