I have only been quit 2 weeks and 2 days yet all my clothes are tight and I,m bulging everywhere! been pretty depressed about it over xmas as i feel so ugly and fat! I spent all last year losing weight which had been a big issue with me for a while after I had my third child, Anyway i finnally lost 3 stone and got to 10 st 2lbs as i,m only 5ft 3 and now i must hve put about 10 pounds on in he last two weeks I have tried not to snack while giving up smoking been trying to stick to the sugar free polo's yet it has still managed to pile on. oh well it looks like my new years resolution will be to get on a good diet, thinking about joining rosemary conley low fat diet as her club round here involve a work out too which i need. liz x Two weeks, two days, 11 hours, 45 minutes and 57 seconds. 329 cigarettes not smoked, saving £65.96. Life saved: 1 day, 3 hours, 25 minutes.

I don't normally post in this section of the board, but thought I'd add my 2 coins anyway.
When I smoked, I sometimes used cigarettes to suppress my appetite and would sometimes go a whole weekend without eating. Other (many) times I would be forced to choose to spend my money on lunch or cigarettes and of course my personal Satan won out.
Thus, I was more susceptible to having the wind knock me down than someone who actually ate. Frankly, I looked like crap. Quitting smoking soon added another 25 pounds to my slight frame. Granted, it didn't all go where I would like it to, but my mamma always said to "put some meat on your bones to fight off illnesses".
My weight gain stopped after my body reached some sort of equalibrium. At this point now I could alter it somewhat by exercise and\or dietary changes.
I already threw out the clothes that didn't fit me which made The Wife happy since I have a tendency to wear the same style years longer than they were "in".
Don't get depressed about the weight gain. Better to be large with pink healthy lungs than thin, frail and gasping for air. Quit smoking first! One thing that will definitely help with the smoking craves is exercise and to keep your mouth occupied, cinnamon sticks \carrots.

The good news is my jeans still fit. The bad news is they only fit one leg.
