Hello everyone. I hope everyone checks in this week. It's been awfully lonely around here lately. It's a good sign in that it means we are doing great with our quits but a bad sign in that no one is here. Well, hopefully now that the Christmas season is behind us, more members will check in. At any rate, I hope everyone is doing well both in their lives and with their quits. I know I am still marvelling over my quit and enjoy every minute of it. Come in and give us your stats. It will be five years for me...or is it six?

Yep it's quiet around here because everyone quit smoking and no longer needs to rant. There is truth to the notion that once quit, you move on with your smokeless life. I don't struggle with daily craves, the internal battle in the head, the torment that no one can see externally yet is a constant thunder within our quitting selves. But I do remember. It's because I remember that I make the occasional pilgrimage back to this place. I remember the people too. I guess I consider myself fortunate that I came on during a time of high activity, where there were many of us all going thru the various stages of quit. While it was good to have fellow newly quit around me it was also enlightening to see the "oldbies" with their long quittimes, encouraging me and others that quitting was indeed possible. At the early stages of quitting, it's hard to see the long term. The oldbies gave us that. And so I (as a considered Oldbie) come here to try to make the Roll Call if at not the least to give hope to any reading this who are in the early stages of quitting or contemplating the leap, that one can truly be free of the scourages of that sick addiction. It is interesting how busy these halls once were.....and now very quiet. I wonder if the number of smoker's has shrunk down to a small group. Many of who won't even consider a quit date? Like you Don, i am happy that i strolled along when i did....it helped alot to get in the trenches with fellow quitters and come up on the other side! This is one time when i can honestly say, the grass is greener on this side. For lots of reasons, but mainly because i have my freedom from the addiction. I have enjoyed learning to live with out the smokes....it can be done and, well, we are living proof!
Having a quit buddy or two is a good quit aid! I noticed they are offering phone numbers to people that can help you stay on your quit. Sort of like smoker's anonymous. Heard it on the radio. Finally, they are on the right track.
Have a great smokefree week all!

I am not here often as I should be, if nothing else to support the person who is starting their quit as you all did with mine. For that, I am sorry. Sometimes life just gets busy but that is really no excuse for me. I always made the time to smoke, so I should always make the time to help someone in their quit. I am very happy, though, that this site is still here. I go here and Quitnet and even my Quitnet group has shrunk down a bit so maybe it is just people getting on with their smoke free lives. I will be 30 years sober this coming April and I just got back into going to A.A. meetings this past September. I guess it proves that no matter how long you are quit with your addiction, you still need support. I always want to pay it forward!
Extremely happy to be smoke free today and every day.
Thanks for always being here even when the numbers of the group dwindle.

I've been absent with my house-husband duties. It's gotten to where I no longer dream of smoking, now I have nite dreams of cleaning the toilets, painting the house, washing dishes, etc.
Since my visit to ICU & use of the ventilator for a month and rehab, using inhalers, in 2008, I pretty much hate the smell of any smoke!
I'm almost at 12 years quit. I'm no longer an addict. May we all live a long, smoke free life.
