You Hate smoking. Good! Keep that hate. You need a good healthy hate for it in order to quit. You will need to lean on that hate at times for strength. Many of us have quit through various methods and you must find the one that works best for you. Like most, I've tried the simplest method which is 'cold turkey'. (I wonder how that phrase was ever conceived.) Turkey didn't work for me. For me, it was my second serious try with the patch. My niece is currently using the wellbutrim pill or something related, which has worked for others here. I've heard people tout the e-cigs, but I know that wouldn't have worked for me because I would still be doing the motions of cig smoking. Altho', the patch did prove to me that I was addicted to nicotine, not neccesarily smoking. It's a tough battle to quit but very doable and very much worth all the effort. I don't know your situation but you may want to consult with others about their methods of quitting. A doctor's advice may help as well. Perhaps you may even have some insurance or work benefit that supports quitting. Take every advantage you can get in this fight.
I must point back to that "hate". You must demonize smoking. Make it YOUR worst enemy. It's not your smoking friend's enemy--it is yours. Focus on you and your anger. Determination is the singlemost important quit aid you can have...followed by support by everyone else.
Get your fight on alexandra!

Well my week started off with a familiar saga. The Boy broke his wrist yesterday. The Girl has a possible final checkup with the orthopedic surgeon this week wed. Nature abhors a vacuum. Seems we can't say goodbye to the orthopedic staff. Problem for The Boy is he broke his dominant wrist which will be in a cast for the next 4 weeks. Nice way to start summer off.
Other than that, life is whatever it will be.

What did I miss? JP...you there?
There was a Venus moving across the sun thing this week. I never saw it but I did set my telescope on fire.

Summertime summertime summertime
Kids are out of school. The boy graduated 8th grade and starts high school in the fall. The girl starts a new upper grade school as well. They're all growing up on me!
Well my sleep study showed I have severe apnea and the next step is that cpap machine. I'm actually looking forward to it. I've had low energy for quite a long time and maybe this might make take care of that and other related issues.
I ate the last of my overly home-smoked fish. I don't think I need to smoke anything for a while. This might be the cure-all for those needing nicotine fixes as well. Next time I'll try pickling.
That's all for now, enjoy the rest of your week!

We're gearing up for the long weekend ahead with regard to the US holiday.
Summer temp are expected too. Need to spend more time in the sunshine!
How does one study for a sleep test? Got one this weekend to ascertain my level of sleep apnea.
I will try smoking this weekend...got some salmon I hooked out of Lake Michigan recently that I want to get all smoky. Otherwise, no fumar for me!

Spent the weekend away from home bringing the kids with me to a Boy Scouting fishing related trip. Perhaps the best gift we could give mom, a quiet weekend to herself.
Strange to see some people smoking at the camp as we usually don't allow such things, but this was a family camping weekend and at least the smokers kept themselves away from everyone else.
A co-worker tells me he's quitting again. How many times have we heard that phrase uttered by a smoker, by even ourselves. But quitting is never just a one time thing. It's a long war, with many battles. A lot of cratered territory to cross. Stay in the fight!

Last day of APRIL. Time flies or walks briskly. Four months of the year have already come to pass. Just think, if you had quit on New Years day....
My lilacs are starting to wane, which the odd warm winter weather brought them out early. Trees, leafing out. I think summer is about to start. That can come early too and hopefully stick around a bit longer.
In all my hopes and plans for this summer, not once did the idea of smoking fit into that plan. This casual freedom from smoking did not come easy, but I easily enjoy the benefit.

Great job on keeping the Quit Colleen! It's great to see you stopping by. I hope to see a day when one of our roll calls has all the quitters from all the years pop in and show the world how strong we are.

Guess it's good to be busy. Been very busy too. It's our annual convention show again but this time I'm behind the scenes working remotely with a 5 hour time difference between locations.
Finally cut my grass for the first time this year and it took many hours but looks nice.
Lilacs are blooming. Got a bunch that I clipped and stuck in bowl in the house. Smell wonderful, much better than a burning cig.
Back to la la land...

Hello Hello Had a good Easter. We hosted both sides of the family at my house which went well in light of the recent losses on both sides of the family.
Smokeless but not penniless.

Back in the saddle again. Time for another week and another Roll Call.
Spent last week out of town for the funeral of my wife's brother in law (does that make him my brother in law too?). I was a lead pall bearer. Didn't realize how heavy those things get. Lots of ceremonies, full military honors. His wife is having survivor's remorse as she wonders why she is fighting breast cancer only to be a widow unexpectedly.
We've hosting Easter at our house this year and this year should be interesting.
One good thing to all of this is my wife and I got to talk to each about our last wishes. And that she demands I get myself thoroughly checked out..guess she doesn't want any surprises.
Anyway, so starts another smokeless month.
I've lost count on the number of smokeless months...good feeling!

Well Slim I got a small tear in my eye as I recently got a phone call from my wife that he passed away last night. This one is gonna hurt when I tell my kids. On a plus side, he left a memory of a larger than life, over the top gracious guy. He would literally wave and talk to everyone he saw...hard to walk around the block in a timely manner with him along.

Here!
Been busy at work and the home front took another nose dive. We haven't told our kids yet, but their favorite uncle (husband of wife's sister currently with breast cancer) went critical with congestive heart failure and kidney failure. He was brought back twice and remains in a medically induced coma. He stablilized over the weekend with some signs of kidney improvement. Hopefully the worst is over.
Meanwhile, I can't wait until wednesday when all of the political signs and phone calls can end, for a while.
pip pip cherio and all that
