Im 25 years old now and been smoking regularly since I was 17. I HATE smoking!!! I'm very nervous about quitting. When I was 19 a Dr. Put me on methadone for fibromyalgia and last year I stopped seeing my Dr. And weaned off that by myself. I was successful!! Now I want to quit smoking...I have for a while. I don't know how to do it though..I mean there are so many methods out there that I don't know which one is best for me? I have been really thinking about getting one of those e cigarettes but which one? Anyone that can point me in the right direction of my attempt to quit smoking...I would really appreciate it! I'm desperate!! Thank you!

You Hate smoking. Good! Keep that hate. You need a good healthy hate for it in order to quit. You will need to lean on that hate at times for strength. Many of us have quit through various methods and you must find the one that works best for you. Like most, I've tried the simplest method which is 'cold turkey'. (I wonder how that phrase was ever conceived.) Turkey didn't work for me. For me, it was my second serious try with the patch. My niece is currently using the wellbutrim pill or something related, which has worked for others here. I've heard people tout the e-cigs, but I know that wouldn't have worked for me because I would still be doing the motions of cig smoking. Altho', the patch did prove to me that I was addicted to nicotine, not neccesarily smoking. It's a tough battle to quit but very doable and very much worth all the effort. I don't know your situation but you may want to consult with others about their methods of quitting. A doctor's advice may help as well. Perhaps you may even have some insurance or work benefit that supports quitting. Take every advantage you can get in this fight.
I must point back to that "hate". You must demonize smoking. Make it YOUR worst enemy. It's not your smoking friend's enemy--it is yours. Focus on you and your anger. Determination is the singlemost important quit aid you can have...followed by support by everyone else.
