Barby here. This is the start of day 1. Anyone who can quit without the use of an aid has my complete admiration! I didn't want to put my first patch on last night, so waited until after my shower this morning. Since the 2nd thing I reach for in the morning is my cigarettes, the first being my glasses to find my cigarettes, the first part of the day was NOT good. I was so agitated, slamming things around. My quit almost ended before it began. I had to keep telling myself things would be better when I put the patch on. I couldn't even take deep breaths! Once I put the patch on I settled down almost immediately. I couldn't believe the difference! In fact, now I'm a little dizzy on the patch. Is this normal? I'm wondering if I should have started with step 2 since I cut down so much last week, to just slightly over 1/2 a pack a day. Anybody have thoughts on this? Barb

Dee here with Four years, seven months, two weeks, five days, 53 minutes and 49 seconds. 50821 cigarettes not smoked, saving $8,893.91. Life saved: 25 weeks, 1 day, 11 hours, 5 minutes.
Country, glad to see that you have 2 weeks in. I wish you'd think about how much time you've already put in and how great you are to have done this, instead of concentrating on how hard it is. Try to think positive. I know that quitting isn't easy...we all know that, but not one of us got through it by thinking it was a hard, impossible task. It CAN be done and YOU can do it. Sorry there isn't an easier way, but that's the way it is. THINK POSITIVETHINKPOSITIVETHINKPOSITIVETHINPOSITIVE~
Dwell on the good, not on the bad.

Hi I am a newbie here, well I smoked my last cigarette on saturday evening! i used to smoke 20 a day since being 18 on and off and i am now 30 and I decided to pack in because i want to see my children grow upand have children of their own one day and not suffer through keep putting my health at risk with smoking. I have decided to go cold turkey because i thought it wouldnt prolong the nicotene addiction!!! Any way this is day two of no smoking and i cant say its been easy but ive been trying to keep busy and not think about those costly ciggies! Ive also started a money jar, my daughters Idea to put in what i would normally spend on cigs and already there is £8 in there. liz

Hi all. Missed a week somewhere along the line. I somehow injured my tailbone (don't ask, cause I don't know). Anyway, this is the first day in a week that I could sit comfortably, so here I am with:
Eleven months, one week, five days, 20 hours, 24 minutes and counting.
Almost one year (again). That's to all of you for keeping me smober.
