Batman, You are awesome just what I needed this morning. I am now 9 hours smoke free. Made it through this morning which I thought was going to be my toughest, so far so good. It feels so good to say I am a non smoker and I do not need those filthy things again. I get a little freaked out and then just tell myself how great is to not be ruled anymore, and not smell. My husband let me use his winter Notre Dame coat this morning since I am not smoking and the winter coat that I had out smelled horrible. Thanks again Checking in with 9 hours, need to get a meter.

When the going gets tough...go smell that jacket! ..or peruse the beef jerky isle at your local supermarket.
Beef jerky...lungs...do the comparison.
Stay strong Karyn...YOU CAN DO THIS!

Thanks ELaine, can you tell me your experience with the gum??? Just curious, trying to decide whether or not to use it. Karyn I have been quit for 11 hours, 16 minutes and 54 seconds (0 days). I have saved $1.05 by not smoking 7 cigarettes. I have saved 35 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 1/30/2005

I only have a minute and then it's back to work.
I didn't use the gum, I used lozenges (which I found to be absolutely fabulous!)

karyn, we are so proud of you. those hours behind you you never ever have to go through them again. your husband is a good man and in mho it would be a sacralidge or something like that to smoke with a notre dame jacket on. if you really want to blow your mind, wait 2 more days and you will be amazed at how quickly you can tell who smokes and who does not just by the smell coming from them. i or we are not better than they we hopefully are a little more learned now that we have quit. i consider myself a nicotene junkie and can not ever take 1 puff. i know i would be right back in it. keep up the spirit as you are tougher than the beast.

Karyn, Very proud of you. It takes courage to quit. Hang tough you can make it - one day at a time, I still follow that principle "I will not smoke today." I remember the first three days being bombarded with feelings of all sorts. Thats the mind I think healing or breaking free from the habit and the addiction. I looked on my bad days as healing and took joy in that - the healing, not the suffering part. You can make - "I will not smoke today." God bless you, John
