"ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT" TECHNIQUES (PART 1 OF 2)
How we look on the outside is closely connected with how we
feel on the inside. To get yourself looking good both
inside and out, consider the first of two sets of attitude
adjustment techniques, from beauty expert Diane Irons:
* Visualization. If you want to change your looks, you need
to visualize specific changes. See yourself with clearer
skin, a streamlined body, shiny and healthier hair,
majestic posture. These changes are realistic and
attainable. Don't compare yourself to people in magazines
or on TV. Accept your uniqueness and capitalize on it.
* Mirrors boost attitude. The quickest attitude adjustment
is through reflection - and mirrors can be your biggest
allies. They can tell you how you're progressing in ways
that might not be noticeable to the casual eye.
* Do everything better. From washing your hair to applying
moisturizer, the way you use your products will make all
the difference in the final result. Warming facial
moisturizer in your hands, for example, will help it go on
more smoothly.
* Discover the virtues of vanity. When we were young, we
experimented with our doll's hair. Or maybe we created
crazy hairdos on our younger sisters. We borrowed our
mother's makeup and played with her jewelry, perfume, shoes
and clothing. Women who care about how they look are
fascinating to watch and teach us about taste, style and
glamour.
* Show off a little. Stop moaning and complaining about
what's wrong with your body and focus on what's right. If
your rear is sagging, show off your arms and calves. You're
in control of what you show the world. Pick out your finest
points and flaunt them.
