Thank you all!! Life is so good smoke free. I was chatting with a friend online and I got a sudden craving, but it went away like a snap of a finger. That is progress I think and I am very greateful for that. I told her I was not going to smoke and it seemed just after I said that, the craving was gone. Thank you all for the great support you give me and for that matter each other. We are a great group aren't we???!!!!!!!

(((Karen))) Congratulations! I know what you mean about saying you aren't going to smoke, and the craving leaving just as quickly. You know, we all have cravings or things we want to do which just aren't good for us, no matter how we rationalize it. The thing I realized though is that the difference between one who succeeds in such endeavours is the person who knows that just because you want something doesn't mean you have to act on that urge. Ever want to kill someone?? *lol* Imagine if none of us had any self-control and we acted on those urges. In our case, however, the only person we will be killing is ourself if we give in to that urge. I'm proud of you gurl. I truly am!

LOL Karen aka Diamond! How true. Whenever I get an urge/impulse to smoke I just laugh at it and say, "I don't need to smoke and I don't want to smoke!" Then it seems like such a silly, childish thing and I wonder how I let it push me all these years. Sometimes I get mad at it for trying to tell me what to do, or rather, mad at all those times I went along with it. Now it's a case of - in the journey of my life, my habit might want to come along for the ride but it can sit in the back seat 'cause I'm driving! Before, it always drove me. I don't spend all my time looking over my shoulder because I know where I'm going and I'm happy to be on my way. Occassionally it tries to give me directions but "I'm not going that way!". *smiles*
What I have used a lot (especially those first couple of weeks) is that the feeling of anxiety and the feeling of excitement are pretty much one and the same. Our minds decide if it's positive or negative. I've learnt that I have the choice. So whenever I get that feeling (jittery or on edge) I embrace it as a good thing and tell myself that I'm excited because I've stopped smoking. Then it actually does feel like excitement and I can pass that moment quite happily. I always smile when people say they're having a 'nic fit'. I like to think it's more like the habit throwing a tantrum because it's not getting it's own way anymore.
Have a good day!
Love, Nessa
