Don't congratulte me. I finally cheated today, but the patch is still on my arm. I know I can do without smoking. I wish I could be happy, or at least proud of myself, but all I feel is sad and shakey.

Time to kill the pity-party! Wallowing in self defeatism won't do one bit of good.
You went a week already! You know how many addicts wish they could go a day without!!...and how they envy you. You're in a good position to keep the quit going. Baby steps, toddler walk.
Dust yourself off, reset your counter if it matters to you, but GET BACK AT IT!

Dot, the failure is not in "slipping", but rather in not picking yourself up and learning from the process. I believe it's critical that you ask yourself why the "cheated" and then devise a plan for the next time so you don't find yourself in the same position. Plans are the weapons we have in this war against our addiction. Get back on that horse with a firm plan in mind. You can do this!

Dot, you have done this before and it's been just as hard. I know you can do it again because you know how good you feel when you finally reach that point in your quit where you can say "I'm not a smoker anymore".

Fellow Tar Heel, Cooler weather is on the way. It sure is nice to enjoy all scenery, holiday aromas & outdoor fun with a paper stick in your mouth. Gee, you are doing fine...don't stop quitting, don't fret the counting. One day at a time, you know it adds up quickly.

C'mon Dot....I told you I'd be here and here I am and I NEED YOU!!! Forget the slip...it was a slip...you're in a quit with me and we are surging ahead. Don't smoke with a patch on....and don't take the patch off...so I guess you can't smoke..right? Let's be quit buddies once again. We did it before and we can do it again. I feel so envious when I see the stats for pops, and Bubb and Don and everyone who quit with us long ago; that could have been us if that beast didn't win out. So! here we are again and that's what's important! We are here! No more smoking! I'm here for you! ~Donna 44 minutes and 19 seconds. 0 cigarettes not smoked, saving $0.10. Life saved: 0 minutes.

Dot, I agree with what everyone else said, but especially Don. Stop the pity parties. That's what finally did it for me this time. I knew that if I thought I would be miserable, then by god I would be miserable. I knew that I would have challenges, but knew for sure that I wouldn't give in or feel sorry for myself. I learned to just sigh, smile and remind myself that I was healing. A positive attitude really is everything. Smile Dot.
