Congratulations to all successful quitters. And those beginning or about to quit, I wish you the best.

Opening day here in the Detroit area. And it was a beautiful day, sunshine and spring like temps. to bad the tigers lost the game... it was fun to be there and see how many people call in sick to work....i swear opening day is holiday here. I saw alot of smokers around town.....i wasn't even temped...even after a few beers....still no desire. I actually felt sorry for so many who are addicted and won't/can't quit. Alot of 40-50 somethings too. Man ....quit already!!!! They don't get it. blinded by the smoke like i was for 21 years.
Happy to be smokefree for: 4 Years 9 Months 4 Weeks 2 Days 3 Hours 57 Minutes 32 Seconds. Cigarettes not smoked: 52924. Money saved: $10,584.99. Time/Life saved: 1 Yr 2 Days 12 Hrs 49 Mins 29 Secs

Karen, it seems that you began this quit with much trepidation, OMG Jim do you think?? LMAO! I went back to some of the archives even when I first started coming here in 2004 and what a difference in my attitude I think. Hi everyone. My name is Karen and I am from Minnesota. I have been wanting to quit smoking but having a hard time getting through the first day. I quit from November of 2002 to December of 2003 and started up again. Have not had much success since then. I was searching for support online and found your board. The board looks very nice. I belong to other boards for different things so know my way around them pretty well and have my own board also. Just wanted to stop by and introduce myself. Hope you all have a great day.
Love,
Karen
Thanks for the support all! I will keep coming back here and let you all know how it is going.
Love,
Karen
Thanks Slim! You are right in assuming I have not quit yet. But I will get there. I have been sober for many years and want to kick the nicotine habit also. It will be one day at a time or an hour at a time when I do quit for sure. I am sure glad I found this site as I believe I will need it for support like we all do.
Thanks for taking a peek at my board. I am a newby at making a message board but it will get there Have a good night.
Love,
Karen
Well, gang, I am down to my last couple smokes and then gonna go to bed. Tomorrow is my quit date! You all have a good night and thanks for the support. Will see you all tomorrow.
Love,
Karen
Good morning everybody! I hope all is well with you all. It is 5:30 a.m. where I am and getting ready to go to work in a bit. I have not smoked yet today. 5 hours, 30 minutes and 52 seconds. 8 cigarettes not smoked, saving $1.20. Life saved: 40 minutes. Those are my stats up to this point. I hope you all have a wonderful day.
Love,
Karen
No, cold turkey this time. I made it 12 hours and then picked up again Not giving up quite yet though. Thanks for your support.
Love,
Karen
Hi gang! Thanks again for all your great support. I am trying again in the morning. Love to you all. You are all winners in my book! I will keep you all posted!
Love,
Karen
Trying to quit again tomorrow. Sorry I have not posted recently. Thanks for the support.
Love,
Karen
Crashed again. I will post again when I feel I am truly ready.
Love,
Karen
Thanks for the support gang. And Gracie, you are right on the mark with that you said about taking the "trying" out of the vocabulary. I know that to be true in other things in my life too. When I said, I am gonna do it, I always succeeded.
Love,
Karen
Well, gang here are my stats so far
1 hour, 27 minutes and 31 seconds. 2 cigarettes not smoked, saving $0.32. Life saved: 10 minutes.
Not a lot of time, but we all had to start somewhere. I will stay smoke free the rest of the day. Tomorrow will be a new day but today is all I am worried about right now.
Thanks for all the support. Will see you all in the morning.
Love,
Karen
Hi everyone! Well I am still smokefree as I write this. Although I have to say, I woke up this morning with a killer headache, sinuses mostly, and my teeth hurt and I am stiff all over. I must have slept wrong or something last night and God knows what else is going on. I am going to go walking when hubby gets home from work as that is something I enjoy doing and get me some fresh air. Hope you all have a great day. Thanks for your support.
Love,
Karen
12 hours, 7 minutes and 15 seconds. 17 cigarettes not smoked, saving $2.65. Life saved: 1 hour, 25 minutes I smoked again. No good reason. Got mad at hubby and used it as an excuse. Not giving up. Just wanted to be honest and let you all know. Have a good night.
Love,
Karen
I am still here and still struggling. Sorry I have not posted in a few days.
Love and hugs to you all,
KarenThese posts start on 10/16/2004 and ended on 11/12/2004. They are the ones where I seem to be struggling so bad. For almost a month I posted in here and struggled and then I really think I gave up for awhile there. I finally quit again on 9/8/2005 and started back here again. OMG I was such a mess quitting cold turkey and coming back day after day saying I smoked again and feeling so down on myself. It was miserable. I really felt at some point that I was just never gonna be smoke free again. Thank God I was able to get some patches again and quit that way. It was good to look back at some archives for me. Even coming back the second time I know I struggled a bit but I do think my attitude changed and the reasons why I quit. My husband is still smoking. He quit and smoked and quit and smoked but he is just not ready and I know how that feels. But one day at a time I get up and I pledge not to smoke at www.quitplan.com and come here every week (somtimes late for roll call LOL) but I make it. I am very grateful to you for all you did for me whether you know it or not. I hope you all had a great Easter. Hugs and love, Karen I have been quit for 7 Months, 1 Week, 1 Day, 1 hour, 47 minutes and 7 seconds (220 days). I have saved $1,760.59 by not smoking 8,802 cigarettes. I have saved 1 Month, 13 hours and 30 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 9/8/2005 9:00 PM. AND VERY GRATEFUL FOR THAT!!!
