I hope you're hanging in there on day one! My first day will be thursday. I'm taking Chantix, and you've got to be on it for a week before quitting.
I was a big poster here a number of years ago, then blew a 2 1/2 year quit. Finally decided to do it again. I started smoking 50 years ago, and was up to at least 2 pks a day! But I know that with a plan and the help of these people I can do this again, and make it stick this time.
Just think of me as your quit buddy! Dot

This feels like it is going to be tough...
Yep Jay, it's a challenge. A challenge. You against the Black Knight. But, don't be a defeatist. YOU CAN DO THIS! It's a simple formula really, you have to outlast every crazy crave.
Find every single way possible to keep yourself from submitting. Every aid you can gather & every ounce of determination. Walk, shower, busy, sleep, swear...everything but puff!
Oh I look forward to seeing you beat this thing.
Dot, I'm thinking of you too! You've done this. You've been there. At some stage you thought a puff would make something better. It's a fantasy to think smoking makes everything better. This time should be better for you since your eyes are open.
Go do this thing!

welcome jay, it has been said that by taking 3 deep breaths it helps the moment pass. with me it did not work until i pursed my lips like i was sucking in a cigaret. THAT WORKED, TRY IT. it may sound dumb but it works, dot, you know that i am with you in spirit, you helped me so many times. you CAN DO IT>

Hello Jay,
It will feel a bit tough....cause your in the habbit of smoking not quitting. Just remember that it really is one day at a time. You have to fight off the beast for today. I can make it past this craving. How do you get past this 'feeling' that you need to smoke....you use quit aids, you get busy or take a nap, or do some deep breathing, or whatever works for you. I would say that positive thinking helps....you really can do this! See yourself as a ex-smoker today and work the plan to that end! Smoking doesn't make you feel good or better or more alert, or help you think it just feeds the addiction. The beast will call for a feeding and you must deny him! I kept saying ALOT that smoking is not an option no matter what. If you follow that advice you will succeed.
Not smoking is a the right decision Jay....absolutely! All of us here at smokebusters were hopelessly addicted, it wasn't easy to quit but we did quit.....and you can to. Stop in for help, encouragement, advice, and always come here first before lighting up. We will have something to say that is for sure!
Dot...i look forward to having you back on the bb. That is wonderful news!
