Hey Slim, 'iot' - without the full word or name, I can only guess - and I am not an authority by any means (though I got straight A's in school for French and always hoped I would learn many languages and was a proponent of the international language school and now really only speak English - though that very well but not like Hemingway - alas) - I would guess that you would pronounce it "ee-u" with the 't' silent and said so that it all flows - eu.
And then there is the Cajun way...which is where you might be getting the 'a' or 'o' sound from -
Cheers.

Hey guys..I think the food is scrapple, not scrabble! It's sort of corn meal mixed with everything but the oink from a pig, then sliced and fried. Down here in the south, we do the same with liver-mush!
And my love of all food central-european comes from Slovak parents.

Scrabble or Scrapple ... is a collection of what's left after hogs, beef cattle or such are butchered.
Things like brains, etc. no thanks!

I'm with you Jimpops....but what is Haggis? I think it is sheep guts is it not? And a more tasty dish there never was! You should try it Don.
I do love sushi too - or rather sashimi - raw fish - in a bowl of sushi rice, with sprinkles of salmon eggs, sea weed and avacado - really great - high protein, low fat. Great.
I love Greek food too - especially the fried cheese!
Vancouver is great for food - international cuisine - and oh! I love tapas bars - Spanish appetizers - expensive and yummy.
