Dot got me thinking about the old J4U board and what made it a fun place. Maybe it was the diversion threads to get our minds off of cig thinking.
So all right, time to play.
What's your favorite food....what's your least favorite.
I'm a seafood lover tho' the nearest ocean is a 3 hour flight away.
So I would go for some King Crab right about now.
Least favorite, there are so few foods that I dislike...but the one that stands out is a Polish dish (and part of my heritage on mother's side) called Czarnina...pronounced I believe Chi-eena. Commonly known as Duck Blood Soup. I can't stand the stuff although I've tried it many times.
I'm also not fond of Japanese sake but I've only tried that once.
Any other folks care to add??

I couldn't agree with you more, Don and Dot. It takes everyone contributing to the threads to make it interesting. I know this board was a major contributing factor to my success and I still like to check in. I think it's the new quitters sharing their journey that carries us along, though. After all, after several years of posting, you run out of things to post; plus, you don't have the urgency that a new quitter has. I suspect that people pass through and go on to a board that has more activity. Also, when I first quit, we used to chat all the time. For a while I think it was every night. So, I hope everyone feels free to post their thoughts and support others and, in return, be supported.
I would second your choice of King Crab ~ we always have it New Year's Eve. That and ravioli. I love strawberries, too. Since I quit smoking, I really, really, really enjoy eating ...

I have to agree with Vanessa. I love food much more since I quit smoking and I love talking about food nearly as much! Fettucine alfredo ranks up there with shrimp of any variety. I also love strawberries still warm from the sun. Great idea, Don, now I'm starving! : ) errr.....duck's blood soup?!

Favorite? Cheese, any kind on any thing. Least favorite....beets
Without smoking, I'm craving all sorts of stuff.....want it now! So my supportive, never a smoker ,husband trudges off to the store or take out to get it for me. Suprisingly, I've lost a few pounds since I quit.
Don, did your family also do blood sausage? I used to love that stuff.

Hey Dot...My mother loves that blood sausage, kiszka..."keesh-ka".
It is an interesting dish. Smells good. Like with meatloaf I usually keep a bottle of ketchup on the side to help wash it down. I'd try it again if it was offered to me.
Definitely one of the major surprising benefits of Quitting was the sense of taste returned. I really like trying new things to taste.

Hi Dot,
Yes, I still check in quite often ~ partly from habit and partly because I never want to smoke again. Congrats on your new quit!! I think the first couple weeks and months are the hardest but every day we don't smoke is a victory!

Slim...so how's that T-bone cooked?? Rare, med or well done??
A guy I work with loves well done, I ...rare. When we go to company dinners we have to razz each other. Of course the vegans in our group razz us regardless. Oh how I love the "Variety of people I work with" .ha ha ha Seriously.

Shellfish and Chinese rate at the top of my list.
I've tried really hard to get to like eggplant, but it's just no use trying any more.

Stop! I'm trying to lose weight!
Blood sausages. Yum. I grew up in Winnipeg when there were tons of Unkrainians and Polish immigrants and I grew up with it. I love cabbage rolls, sausages, mashed potatoes, blood sausage, rye bread...
I also love prime rib, roasted with baby potatoes and baby carrots and perhaps celery if you want and washed with red wine till it almost melts...French Canadian dish...speaking of French Canadian dish...you can take a baked chicken, take the meat, put it on some French bread, pour gravy over it and add some canned peas (cold) on the side...remember to pour on the gravy. Delish.
Ok, happy now? Kidding, food is a great thing isn't it? But I am finding that I can't eat as much as I used to when I smoked. My metabolism has changed. I now eat a large salad each lunch, with a large portion of either ham or tuna, lots of raw veggies and fruits, topped with yogurt and seeds. This yummy tooooooooooo......
And I love cake and cupcakes....Oh yeah, don't forget Haggis. Love it....!
My least favorite food? Beans.
