Along the line of taste and smell retuning (mine never did completely the last quit)....do any of you remember smelling stuff that just wasn't there? The last quit, I kept smelling whisky, something I'm not very fond of. This time, I keep thinking I smell sweaty feet! Jeeze! I wish I'd start smelling Chanel #5 or something like that! Dot

I am not sure about phantom smells...But i do remember smelling everything...and some smells were not so nice. My son was a toddler when i quit. Perfumes and colonges made me sick and gave me a headache. What's interesting is that a smell can trigger memories just like a song or a landmark. This smell you experience will be exactly why you don't want to go thru this again!!!! Your energy and smelling oddities will level out soon.

My sense of smell is really whacked.
My wife has smelled gas leaks that I was oblivious to. Perhaps I had one too many sinus infections.
They say that smell is a strong memory trigger.
Maybe this is why I like strong flavored foods now.

First off I smelled asphalt highways, mowed lawns & stinky clothes closets.
For real enjoyment, I used to walk thru a florist's. Also spent time smelling the aromas in an Italian restaurant .

Wow, I hope that if I start smelling phantom smells, it'll be something enjoyable! Smelling whiskey, smelly feet, asphalt & stinky clothes are not something I would enjoy!
I have noticed my sense of smell coming back though and it is rather overwhelming! Everything is stronger now and some smells are just too much. Makes me want to run away from them! I've even had a hard time with my hand lotion lately!

After so many years of smoking, my sense of smell never entirely retuned during my long quit a few years ago. Some things got really strong, some I couldn't smell at all. Different receptors in the nose or brain, perhaps? Seems like the bad smells got through before the good ones! I've promised myself some really nice perfume for my one-month award, but might have to take along someone else to smell me while I test! Dot
