Those of you who have hung on here to support others have done a great job. So many reach a point where they feel secure and just don't want to discuss quitting anymore, which is their privledge of course. It has been said that for every 10 years you smoked, you need a year of support in order to keep your quit. Could that be part of my problem, that my long quit ended? I should have stayed here for at least 4 years!

For me i am not really sure how much support i need cause i am still here after 5 Years 7 Months 2 Weeks 4 Days 15 Hours 55 Minutes 7 Seconds. I don't need the support in the same way as in the first year, but it does keep me grounded in my quit and "never take a nother puff" is a long time. Maybe after 10 years or so you could walk away...not sure. I'll let you know someday. Judy has become less visible lately...how long has it been for her? 8-10 yrs maybe that is your answer.

It would be tempting to just try to forget I was a smoker and move on with life. And for some that may be the correct course they set for themselves on the path of life.
However, if I ever ever ever had a need for someone to remind me to stay smokeless, I'd return here first!
I'm a vagrant, I'll stay around here for periods of time then get busy elsewhere with some other aspect of life and eventually return.
How many smokes can say they smoke on and off with their addiction?

I'm three years into this quit after blowing my last 2 year quit around the same time as Dorothy. I haven't been around much the last six months or so because quite frankly, I hardly ever think of smoking any more. It's a non-entity for me. But all the oldbies here made it possible for me to stay quit, so I feel that I owe that to the newbies now. It's my time to pay back. I can't promise I'll check in every day, but I'll do much better than before.
