I just spoke with my cuz last night who was a heavily committed smoker and has now been quit for 6 months. He was telling me that a great part of the reason he and his wife quit was the emails I sent to him each month on my quit. So for all you quitters out there, it really does help others to hear about our quit and the journey of discovery. We were both saying that it was always so difficult to stay quit before but this time, we found that by just NOT TAKING ANOTHER PUFF - it worked. Just don't smoke and the moment will pass. And pass and pass and next thing you know it's been a year. And we were also saying that we mustn't take the quit for granted because you don't know when the next one will be. It could be the next day or it could be five years...and then you are in trouble.
So, I love talking about my quit and apparently it serves a public good, so post you quitters! POST! Share your quit!
"Most people give up just when they're about to acheive success. They quit on the one yard line. They give up at the last minute of the game one foot from a winning touchdown. " H. Ross Perot

I like to occasionally mention to people, when the situtation fits, that I quit smoking. Sometimes this is done to reasure the smoker around me that quitting can be done. I'm not millitant against smokers. Sometimes the best advice it to lead by example and to let others know they will not be alone.
Thumbs up to your Cuz Flo!

Go Cuz Go
i have 2 receptionists at my office that still smoke and they are both in there 40's. I give them an encouraging word now and again...but you really have to want to quit on some level to be heard. I think most people say when i mention quitting... " I sure wish I could quit smoking" or " i tried to quit but i just can't do it" or "you know...i do need to quit someday".....Sound familiar? Lets face it quitting is hard....one must have a desire on more than a casual basis to get to the decision... "I am going to quit" I bet in many cases it involves some hardship or scare or sickness or just getting very angry with the nasty addiction. Its easy to keep on smoking...but it takes courage to face up to the nicobeast and declare War! I am glad i did.
