A dear friend of mine begged me to come back here. I did so, but now I see she is hardly ever on. She rarely posts, but will send me emails asking why I don't come here. What's up with that? I hope everyone is doing well. Summer is drawing to an end. I see the leaves on my maples are starting to fall. I'm not ready for summer to give way to fall yet. I LOVE fall, but then comes the nasty winter which I DO NOT love! All you newly quit folks keep hangin in there. It does get better and all the discomfort you are going through is well worth all the benefits of being an ex-smoker! Keep on keepin' on!!!

ok dee here I am. I read the posts daily but somedays hardly anyone is on and some days everyone is here. I didn't think you would come back. As far as me, I have good and bad days.I don't know why. It has been 3 months and I should be doing better than this. What I'm trying to say is sometimes I have 2nd thoughts about quitting and feel like giving up. Does this make sense?

It is very common to have those feelings, country. It's your brain trying to tell you it wants it's nicotine fix. It is up to YOU to tell your brain to take a brake, that you are not going to give in....period! NOT EVER! It takes quite awhile, longer than 3 months, for those negative feelings and the cravings to completely go away. You've been smoking for a long, long time, so why would you expect to be able to just quit with no unpleasantness? You need to face reality and just tell yourself that there is nothing more important than you not smoking. Keep saying it over and over if you have to. I want you around for a long time....so hang in threre! You can do this. YOU, can do this. No one can do it for you. When you celebrate your one year anniversary I will take you out to dinner at the restaurant of your choice. Just me and you though...no one else allowed, unless they want to pay their own way....ha ha.

well maybe this is a dumb question but why does my brain keelp telling me I need a nicotine fix when it has been a little over 3 months? Deanna I am going to take you up on that offer. That gives me plenty enough time to figure out what restraurant I want to go to, right? I noticed not too many here today.

Where is everyone?....probably living life or hiding in a cave! Myself, I'm living life without cigarettes!! And with the weather still being agreeable to outdoor activities...outside I'll be.
One of the things that quitting did for me was $$ savings...that money can now be spent on food or hobbies or other more enjoyable things.
I suspect come winter, I would be online more.
I can certainly understand how quitters may look forward and not back to where they started their journey (here, for example) and a ghost town appearance may take form. That's why newbies are always good for the board, with the ranting, raving and the critical need for support. (To be honest, there have even been a few extreme cases where I've had a phone call from a newbie as that final lifeline.)
As for the oldbies, well I surmised taht we pretty much ranted all we had in us, so there isn't much left other than to complain about the weather and I'm not much of a chatty person by nature....but I do like to complain about the weather!
Dee, take that Country gal out to dinner...and insist on the non-smoking section. It's so nice to actually ask for that! Altho' the wait for a non-smoking table seems longer as everyone else wants it too.
