I'm on this board for the upteenth time right now. I had a long quit several years ago, but stupidly blew it.
I'm one who tried the Chantix, but it made me very ill, even at half doses. It's wonderful stuff if you can get past the nausea....really takes care of the cravings, and of course the nicotine is out of your system in just a few days.
So now I'm using patches again, and doing ok most of the time. Really, attitude is the key to it all, no matter what aids you use (or don't use). Getting and giving support really helps too. Sometimes it's good just to get on here and type whatever's on your mind at the moment!
Dot Two weeks, one day, 3 hours, 4 minutes and 25 seconds. 605 cigarettes not smoked, saving $75.64. Life saved: 2 days, 2 hours, 25 minutes.

Hello Dot, I understand about the nausea,it has been better after the first week.I am still having problems at night wanting to smoke out of habit. I also stayed quit for 10 years once upon a time but being the silly person that I am started back. Maybe this time I am older and wiser and really would like to be a nonsmoker. billyb

Do you have any hobbies, needlework, reading, etc., to keep busy? With children, you probably just want to relax when you have free time. But it really helps to have something to do. I keep a jigsaw puzzle on the table, read constantly, and play computer games. Also weave, knit, crochet....any of that stuff. Trouble is, I don't dare start anything that needs concentration! This board used to be much more active years ago, but I'm still grateful for all the experience here. Most still remember the tough times, and can help us get through hour by hour. Dot

Hello Dot, Thanks for asking I think I am doing pretty well.I am smoking about 3 cigs per day,am not antsy or grouchy.I do have odd dreams and seem extra tired but thats probably normal.I am not eating as much or having drinks as much as before the Chantix so all in all I think its working well.

Dot, I read all of the time, I used to do needlework but now have RA and do not have the dexterity in my hands to start it again. I work full time so its just the evenings that my hands are not busy.I will think of something. billyb
