One week smoke free...that is quite the accomplishment. We have always said that the first week is Hell Week for good reason and you have survived with flying colors!!! Good for you. I also quit cold turkey and finding this bb was a big part of my success. I visited often, i posted daily and received great advice and support. Like you, reading inspiring stories of past successes is a good idea and helps all of us keep the quit! If you want, tell us your story and how you ended up at smokebuster's site. We are a friendly group and happy to support you in your quit. The more you post, the more you will bring some of these oldbies and newbies here on the bb to return post!! It took me a few months to get the nicobeast off my back so be aware of your triggers and remember that smoking is not an option!!! Welcome Julie

Thank you, slim!
Yes, I am quite proud of myself! There had been times I honestly didn't think I would make it...then I remembered that as bad as a crave can feel, it only lasts about 3 minutes, or less (although it often feels like more!). I'm getting some craves today, but I was prepared for them; many people report a slight spike in them around the 7-day mark.
I am SO happy! I had the beginnings of age-related arthritis...not too serious, just having to "pull myself up" out of chairs, use the railing to help me up stairs, etc. Imagine my surprise a couple of days ago when I stood up, without thinking, with no help...and no pain! That's just one of the many, many benefits I'm seeing already.
And yes, I'm quite aware of NTAF! I quit a few years ago, for 6 months, and ignored that mantra. So now here I am again, but this time it's for keeps!
Thanks for this board! I found it through whyquit.com, and I'm glad I did!
Julie

Hello Julie,
I'm glad to hear your quit is going well. As everyone will tell you, it really does get easier as time goes by. But be on your toes and don't get complacent! Be especially aware of the triggers that sneak up on you, especially the first time you are in situations or places where your formerly smoked.
I just returned from a 4 day bus tour to Atlantic City. It wasn't a piece of cake by any means, but also I wouldn't have even signed up to go if I was still smoking!
Celebrate your little victories!
Dot Four months, two weeks, two days, 5 hours, 30 minutes and 39 seconds. 5569 cigarettes not smoked, saving $696.35. Life saved: 2 weeks, 5 days, 8 hours, 5 minutes.
