Hi Blake and welcome!
I quit 2 weeks and 4 days ago (I use the lozenges) and it is miserable for the first week, I know! It gets much easier after "hell week".
Hang in there, it's worth it. Slim is right, sleep through as much of it as you can.
Everyone here on the board is so helpful and so supportive; they remember and understand what you are going through...it definitely makes quitting just a little bit easier.

Hang in there. Remember no matter what happens do not pick up a cigarette. Drink water for the cravings.

Blake,
Don't focus on the cravings. When an overwhelming urge comes along quickly do something, anything, to get your mind off of it. I chew lots of gum, go for walks, exercise, breath deeply....do anything it takes to relieve them. And remember, the cravings come in waves...ride out the wave...don't fight it but work with it. Remember, you ARE STONGER than those cigarettes, you are STONGER than any addiction. Millions of people have stopped smoking for good...you can too.
I remind myself of all those things everyday. It does get easier.

Sorry I have not posted in a while...
Yesterday hubby and I celebrated two months smoke free. We had lots of good food to eat and took it easy all day. This has not been easy, and remains a daily struggle. One craving at a time...one day at a time.
My father informed me yesterday that my cousin has relapsed and another mass has been found in her lung, as well as, cancer in her liver. She had surgery two years ago to remove one lung and underwent a couple rounds of chemo. She has returned home to Michigan to live-out her remaining time with her parents. I feel so sorry for my Aunt, this will be second child that she will have buried do to lung cancer, both were in their mid-forties. This story, while tragic, gives me overwhelming courage to continue to be smoke free.
Hope everyone else is doing well...
Willpower (smoke free 63 days, 9 hours, 17 minutes)

Welcome Blake! Keep up the good work! I'm only ahead of you by a little bit! I know what hell you're going through! It does get easier, and you'll have good days and bad ones. Just remember all that you're gaining from giving up the BEAST! J

Hey guys - New member here... I've been smoke free for 48 hours now, and it seems like it's getting harder every hour. I've got my patch and my lozenges, but I keep finding myself getting up to go smoke. I get halfway to the door before I realize what I'm doing. I feel like someone has taken over my body... any advice?

Welcome Cody,
I am only a few days ahead of you.
Four days, 17 hours, 23 minutes and 35 seconds. 165 cigarettes not smoked, saving $24.80. Life saved: 13 hours, 45 minutes.
Take small sips of cold water is working for me. Also I take deep breaths of fresh air, hold them in for a few seconds and exhale.
Whatever you do, because I have wanted to as well, is DON'T pick up a cigarette under any circumstance and you have no chance of failure.
Stay on track. You can win.

Thanks for the words of encouragment Blake.... It feels good to know there are so many people that can help support my decision, especially when I'm feeling the most vulnerable. I'm through day 4!!! and I honestly can say I can't believe it. I've been having some crazy dreams the last few nights, and I dreampt last night that I snuck off at a party and lit up. I was so upset with myself, and I woke up in a panic. It was a great feeling to know it was just a dream, and that I've stuck to it. Wish me luck this weekend. This will truly be my biggest test.
