Hi and welcome Mike from Greenville OH,
Thanks for stopping by and sharing. I visited the web site you mentioned in your post and sure it looks promising. How effective it is depends on you. The web site even says that the psychological part of quitting is on you! The beast is tough to beat but you can do it. It starts with a desire to quit that is greater than your desire to smoke. Fear holds people back, like you, and i encourage you to read thru our old posts and discover that people like you have overcame the addiction and put down the smokes.
There is life after smoking....really! But quitting smokes is more than just not smoking...it is a process that we all go thru to find freedom from this nasty addiction. For some it is easier than it is for others, but you know all to well that quitting is the right choice! When will you reach the point of no return? No one knows for sure, but you will be so proud and happy if you can get thru this and choose not to smoke. It is wonderful feeling of freedom! Not to mention all the other side benefits that you will achieve as an ex smoker. The list is very long and well worth it! Conquer your fear Mike and start your journey to a smoke free life. One day at a time! We can help. _slim quit 6/11/01

Hello! Some of you may remember my tag from South Beach Friends. Getagrip is really Yvonne. I'm am trying to plan my last quit. Again. Seeing the Nurse today for a new Wellbutrin presciption, since that really helped me last time. I am waking in the middle of the night wheezy and having a hard time getting my breath. Knew, knew, knew I needed to quit smoking, but keep getting sick of the extra weight. Everytime I quit I gain 10 lbs a week. Losing my quit, I quit gaining, but have never lost it again. Now I think I'm getting emphysema. Well heck with it, my hubby loves me just as much fat, and at least I get to buy new clothes! I am looking for a quit date and some gumption, willpower. I'm also looking for some information on how to help the family help me quit. Hubby is crabby by nature, two crabby parents just doesn't seem fair to the kids, but if I ask hubby to help, and be very specific in what he can do to support me, he will do it. Kids certainly want to help too. I am terrible in asking anyone for help though. Any ideas?

Hi Yvonne! It sounds like you are getting ready to give it your all! I wish I had some advice on how to include your family in your quit, but my son just hid from me until the first week was over (wise on his part!). I am sure someone must have some input for you though.

Hey Yvonne, I remember you from Southbeach!
The family can help you quit by giving you hugs when those cravings start. They can also check the days off on a calendar and generally just tell ya things will be alright and that they're proud of you.
Or they can run like heck and get out of the way if you are a grumpy quitter. Newly quit and short-fuse are close buddies.
Here's to ya for making the leap!!

Hello everyone, my name is John, people call me bubby though. I am planning on quitting next week (once I start my vacation from work). I have been smoking for close to 13 years and it's almost at two packs a day right now. I plan on using the patch. I'll post back here with details on how trying to quit is coming, thanks for the support and I hope I will be able to give you guys and gals some support sometime.

welcome Phillygirl! if you post before you smoke you will be amazed how affective that is for keeping you honest. It's so easy to light up...it takes courage to say no to the addiction and fight for yourself....you deserve to win. We can help _slim

Thanks slim!!! I haven't smoked since I posted. However, I am the type who can go a couple of days without smoking. Of oourse I'm still way addicted lol! I just got the feeling that if I could join a support group it would make quitting easier. Thanks for the encouragement. I really want to make it to the two week/ one month mark this time. I usually fail in my quit attempts before then.
