Power drinks made in the blender. The other day I invented one using a banana, peach yogurt, orange juice, wheat germ and a raw egg. Anyone else have a favorite power drink combo?

sounds good to me too, except for the raw egg...don't know if I want to risk salmonella. Maybe eggbeaters would work.....

Well since my eggs are always refrigerated I doubt there is any chance of salmonella. The raw egg is a good source of protein.

To reduce the risk of salmonella, I use protein powder. It's a great pick me up after exercise. I use the Atkins shake mix plus a few berries. Hmmmm. I love berries of all kinds. There are all kinds of protein powders on the market these day.

That's a great idea Gracie. As I live in a small town I haven't seen these powders. Would you get them in health food stores? I am going to look into this, thanks.

Kit, I get them in the regular grocery store. If you don't have a large chain store in your town, you may need to go to a drug store or a health food store. Let me know what you find.

There are no large chain stores of any kind where I live....we have one bank, 2 grocery stores, 1 hardware, you know what I mean...
I went into town today to a health food store and got some ISO Whey protein powder. It says 40 grams of protein per 2 scoops so I am giving it a go. It is 100% natural with .4g of fat, zero carbs, no sweeteners.

I also use the protien drinks. Not as often as I should be. I use the desinger Whey (chocolate) what I do is mix my whey with 6oz milk and 6 oz water and add about a tablespoon of the new half and half vanilla.
The pkg says that you can stir this whey with a spoon (if you want to be there all day) so I use my blender.
If you want it thicker just add a handful (small handful) of crushed ice to the blender.
I have read that there is not much different taste wise in this whey drinks. Just watch you sugar's or carbs you don't want to go above 5 grams or you will gain weight instead of losing. (atkins diet, southbeach about 2 years now)
Not following diet like I should the only thing I have really lost was heartburns and 40lbs of which I have put back on close to 20 since I quit smoking.
My sweet tooth is finally starting to calm down.
