SmokeBusters is, first and foremost, a SUPPORT forum dedicated to helping others fight the addiction to cigarette smoking. SUPPORT is the key term here. Passing judgment on others will only be confined to the individual level. As a whole, this group will devote itself to the betterment of those who choose the difficult journey to become smoke-free.
Who we are:
We are a mature audience dealing with the serious issue of the smoking addiction. Although some posts will be light-hearted in nature, the underlying issue of smoker’s addiction is life-threatening. Such as the case being, situations that are the result of the detrimental effects of smoking will arise in some of the posts. Compassion and understanding are welcome and needed. Owing to the deathly serious nature of our topic, religious discussions are to be expected, but belief systems are left to the reader to disseminate and tolerate.
This board is the continuation of an idea born from Al Silverberg at Just4u.com to combat smoking addiction.
In the evolution since those days, and through various temporary boards,
< southbeachfriends.com/forums/viewforum.php?forum=33&1 >
became the newer home for Just4u.
Mr. Silverberg passed away in 2004.
We carry on the task, here at Smoke Busters.
The Roll Call is a weekly sign in sheet to let the community of quitters know you stopped by to visit.
It also promotes the pride of posting one's quit-statistics such as quitdates or the very popular Silkquit Quitmeter. < www.silkquit.org >
One does not need to be actively quit from smoking to post in the Roll Call or any post for that matter.
Any member can start the Roll Call but only Moderators have the power to make it a "sticky/unsticky" topic.
The Roll Call is traditionally posted on Monday of each week.
