Ok....time to get some discussions going here...wake up the dead, so to speak. ;D (I think I brought this subject up a long time ago, but lets do it again.) Is there anyone that you envy? Why? And how do you handle these feelings? I am extremely jealous and judgemental. I don't envy people their material things per se, but I do envy people who are strong and decisive. I'm so wishy-washy! and wish I was more in control and more able to make decisions and live with them. Dot

hmm good one Dot. I guess as horrible as it sounds I envy people with money sometimes. Even though I know they are not always happy, and it doesnt always solve problems and also (which is stupid but I know a part of the beginining of a quit) people that have not quit yet. But I am a lot like you Dot, I am wishy washy and very indecisvie at times, and my biggest thing that I envy of others is I am the most guilt ridden person, and most of the time for no reason, so I would like to be more relaxed and not so guilt ridden.
Dot I just wonder if after we have been quit for awhile (which we have both been there before) but I forget, I wonder if we lose the things about us that we dont like and gain some things that are good. I hope so Karyn

I still envy smokers too, Karyn. But I'm sure there's someone out there who is jealous of me for having almost 6 months quit. And envies you for being on day 3!!!!
I"m sure we gain things that are good, Karyn. I remember having lots of pride or self satisfaction. I love getting praise from supporters, and giving myself treats.

Interesting Dot. I was waiting for the bus just this morning and feeling so great. I get up and exercise (yoga, stretch etc.) each morning and with the extra money I have now that I've quit, I've got lots of great clothes and felt in short like a million bucks. I get huge praise from my mom and for all you women out there you know how great that is (and vica versa to be in the bad books with Mom is no picnic). That high comes from the quit and nothing else. I have a magnetic button on my fridge that says the only people who are normal are the ones you don't know. Yes it's true, there are true winners out there and there are a ton of people who are doing really well in life just as there are those who are not; but envy does not take you anywhere. As they say, if our souls were shoes and all our shoes were piled up in one pile, we would all go and get our own shoes anyhow. Begin today and that's that.
I too could regret a lot of things. I too wish for more money. I too wish ... but where does that get me. Now, GRATITUDE - that's the key. I'm grateful for a lot of things and that is what we all have to focus on.
That's my opinion anyways.
Back to you.

I decided I was in stage 2 today. but I will tell you driving into work today I looked in the rearview mirror and saw a guy smoking, I didnt feel the need to smoke, I thought thank goodness that that is not me with all the smoke clinging to my clothes. LOL I guess that is a start!!!

I have been told about this Man named Randy Pausch He is dying of cancer and has wrote a book called the "The last Lecture" Lessons in life that perhaps are important for us and our children. I will be picking up the book and bringing it home. download.srv.cs.cmu.edu/~pausch/He did a Diane Sawyer special the other day. Perhaps you saw it. abcnews.go.com/GMA/LastLectureFood for thought is really ..... Get healthy and stay healthy for you never know what tomorrow will bring. Don't let tomorrow's worries steal the beauty of Today!
