1.Now is a bad time to be quitting smoking. 2.If you smoke, this (whatever) situation will not be as hard to deal with. 3.It`s impossibe to quit, most everyone goes back, so why put yourself thru this needlessly? 4.`Everyone has a vice; this is yours and you are entitled to have one vice. 5. You`ve given up drugs and alcohol already; you need something to keep you sane. 6.You can control my smoking and only have a few cigarettes a day. 7. If you go back to smoking you will lose the weight you gained. 8. Smoking will comfort you. 9. You`re not committed enough to quitting - so it will never last. Might as well smoke. 10.Lots of people smoke and never die of smoke related illnesses. 11. smoking will make everything easier in your life. 12. Just smoke until this difficult situation resolves itself, then you can always quit again.

I can't count the times I've repeated those to myself and others. For shame!!

8. Smoking will comfort you.
Well it doesn't. It didn't help me one bit when my niece died last year.
Lies, lies, lies.
Thanks Ann.

Lies, all lies. But they made it easier for me to accept my addiction.
