Yesterday, my daughter and I were on the phone for 1 1/2 hours, dealing with Social Security, and working on getting SSI for her. Talk about STRESS!!! Geeze! Anyway, she's chain smoking during this time, and I just thought I HAD to have a couple of puffs from her cigarette. YUCK! She smokes menthols, and really cheap ones at that!...Otherwise, I might have run to the store for a pack. Anybody want to give me a kick? Dot

This is an official "Kick Butt" post. There are triggers all around us and they can hit any time. I'll admit that over this past year dealing with my mothers passing I've had very serious thoughts of smoking. Always in the back of my mind is "This use to calm me", it's not ture of course but it's there none the less. How you deal with the stressor is the real test. Good luck!

We can be tempted even after many years smoke free. Today I was at the petstore with my daughter in law and when I first walked in the door I could smell cigarette smoke that usually repels me. Today, for some strange reason it attracted me and I thought I'd love to smoke just one. HA! We all know where THAT leads. As soon as I got past the smell the thought also left my mind and I forgot about it until just now when I read your post. Don't smoke. You'll so hate yourself for giving in. You can get by without those death sentences hanging around. Keep on keepin' on. SMOKING STINKS AND IS NOT AN OPTION!

I still have cravings once in awhile and smoking dreams. When I smell cigarettes it makes me want to smoke. I just keep fighting. Dee, even after all these years you haven't smoked it still attracts you every now and then? I like reading both of your posts. It makes your message sink into my head.

OH, I have no intentions of smoking. It was just one of those episodes where you just want to tear your hair! Normally, I can be around smokers and it doesn't bother me a bit.

I think we all are in that situation once or twice since quitting. The decisions we make are important....and good call on no puffing. It still stinks....

Interesting that this topic should come up. On the weekend, there was a smoker in our dinner party and I almost, without thinking, reached over to have just a puff from his cigarette. I caught myself and was so shocked that this would come up. I'm lucky in that there are no smokers in my life - at least not at close range - so I'm not tested as hard as some. I told everyone about this impulse and that even if it were to have gone the full way and I had taken a puff, I don't think I'd ever go back to smoking...but I don't want to test that out. It's got to be the toughest thing - to quit smoking around a smoker - I know I was never able to do it with my ex. Good luck to you Dot and hang in there. Never give in.

countryblocks has also quit while her hubby still smokes. I give her much, much credit for quitting. I had to wait until I was sure my husband was not going to smoke anymore before I could quit. Kudos to you Dot. You are a superstar in my mind.

Oh yes I have my bad days and sometimes I wonder if I'm going to make it thru the day without smoking. On top of my husband smoking, my daughter does too and if I'm having a stressful day it's harder yet. I wake up in the morning to a good cup of coffee and tell myself I don't smoke anymore.
