It's nearly February already! Let's hope the time flies as fast for all the new quits out there! May it last and last! Check in with your quits everyone! It will be three years for me come May. Wow. How very wonderful. I was with an old friend on the weekend from my pre-quit days and who is a smoker (as were many of my friends then). She didn't smoke around me and I really appreciated it. We got to talking about my quit and she countered with all the things that match her lifestyle already (she eats right, doesn't smoke that much)...it is tough quitting. The only thing I did not raise with her was that one's mind does a subtle detour from truth to sustain one's habit. That makes all the difference. Well, I gave her all I had and I hope it helps her make up her mind to quit. The one she really loved is - No one ever died from a crave. And it's true.

I'm still quit with 9 years under my belt on Jan. 20, 2000. It's also still cold here, how is everyone else coping with this cold weather?

Hi Jimpops! I hope you are steadily improving. Take good care of yourself. You are a treasure.
Ann, it's been ridiculous here! Breaking all records of cold, snow fall, the past two weeks were nothing but thick fog. The last few days have actually been beautiful. Sunny, a bit chilly but still. Then, the weather started to drop and now, snow again. Sheesh. How do I deal with it? Exercise, walking outdoors at least once a day, and soup! I'm back to soup and stew! I love that. I hope that helps. (Of course, not having to go outside for a cigarette is so nice!)
