G'day All! Well another week is upon us. Had a good weekend. Went to Milwaukee yesterday for my annual "winter-Pick-Me-Up". www.milwaukeedomes.orgNothing like seeing green fauna and flora whilst the outside world is frigid. The tropical room is about 85 degrees F with birds fluttering about. While smoking is just a memory for me, I have had 2 smoking dreams in the past week. Surprising how the mind forgets we don't do that anymore. Of course now when I realize I'm smoking...I know that I am dreaming and the dream soon ends. cigless since: 10/27/99

Good Morning everyone. Don, my old stomping grounds is Milwaukee, where my son was born. The domes use to be free but then I'm dating myself when I say that. ;D Slim, I can take six more weeks if we don't go into the sub zero wind chill factors. Still fighting to stay smoke free -

Good morning all! It's back to seasonal norms here in Vancouver and I'm not sure if I'm all that happy...I'm into the winter this year - of course, I don't mean the winters like the east coast or anything like that...brrr! Oh well, all you can do is enjoy what ever nature has to offer right? I just read in the National Geographic web site that dolphins use tools and pass on that knowledge to their off spring...isn't that amazing? They say that dolphins are geniuses caught in a fish's body.
Well, I digress...or do I...all this and more as a result of my quitting smoking. I'm that much better and happier. Have a great week everyone!

than ks Flo. Actually I surprised myself. Today is my birthday and hubby gave me a beautiful bouquet of flowers and my other 2 children called.Well my son and his girlfriend took us out to dinner. i got another big bag of m&m's). When we got home I got a call about a close friend of ours had chest pains and is having a quadruple bypass tomorrow. He had stents just like my husband but wouldn't quit smoking. So I blew at my husband and we got into a fight and are not speaking. I told him all he does is think about when he can have the next cigarette.I said your health isn't any better than mine and I think you should at least try and he told me to mind my own business.I haven't spoken since. Gee I said all that? Guess I forgot this is roll call but got it off my chest anyway

let it roll Countryblocks. Funny but my wife believes it is her business that I stay healthy for her and the kids...and she's right. My health does impact her and the family.
I think your hubby is feeling threatened and is lashing out. Some people would rather loose a limb than give up smoking. (but they may end up losing a lung)
Sorry for the troubles on the homefront Country. It must be kicking him seeing you smokeless. He may be feeling a bit insecure, shamed that he isn't strong as you and so he would get angry at you for his perceived shortcomings.
After he gets his cigarettes in for the night, I'm sure he'll calm down before morning. You can't change him directly. The best you can do is show him the way by keeping quit.

Don, that is great advice. Country you are in a tough situation, having a smoker around you. I don't know if I would have been able to do it if I had been with my ex who smokes. I tried a couple of times and I think he deliberately sabatoged my quit (I know I did in the past myself). It's tough but you have been through the worst of it now. I hope I'm not pushing it but I would try to ensure that your husband smoke outside and certainly not in the car whether you are in it or not. They find that third hand smoke is not good for you either - that is the residue left on surfaces and ashtrays and such which carry the poisons to you as you breath. I hope he quits one day. The walls are closing in both socially and medically. At any rate, you are wonderful and I'm rooting for you. Stay quit, stay strong, and keep the faith. p.s. I work with a woman whose husband smokes. This new years, he quit smoking and has been smokefree to date. She never gave up on him. She didn't nag him but she did encourage and leave articles for him to read. So don't give up. Your husband may quit one day too.
