A View From Above
I remember starting along this path and watching with envy as those who were so far ahead of me walked upright and easily along a beautiful, lush, garden of Eden type path. The road that faced me was treacherous, laden with pitfalls and so many places to slip, slide and fall off completely.
Yet while the path was difficult, it was well worn. Worn by the soles (souls - RIP Tillie) of those who went before me. And there were markings along the path - when I felt I had lost my way, I'd come across a note left behind showing me the way and encouraging me to take that next step. At times a hand would reach back from further along the trail to steady me, comfort my fears, and gently guide me along to that next step.
As I climbed higher along the steep and winding path, I noticed the terrain leveling out a bit; the air crisper than I'd ever tasted, my spirits lifted as high as the ridge I had just crested. It was then I began looking over my shoulder to check on the progress of others - reaching out a hand, leaving a note of support along the way, or simply calling back to them words of encouragement.
You see, we are not on this journey alone - the path is well worn by those who have gone before us and shows itself willingly to those who wish to conquer its crevices, pitfalls and trevails. And while the peak may seem unreachable to you at this moment, you can only get here from there one step at a time.
Oh, and the view from above is amazing. Because when I look back I see strength, drive, will and desire in each and every one of you. You can do this - one step at a time...come on up and join me - you'll love the view.
