Everyone says "never quit quitting", but for those who blew (or are thinking of blowing) a long quit.....
It's much harder this time, even though I know what I need to do. The first time, pride and accomplishment really carried me along when craves were strong. Not so now....
Of course I"m grateful for every day I make it through without smoking, I don't have as much support this time. Or as many to cheer me on. Friends and family are probably tired of my starts and stops, like "what's the big deal?" So I've got to depend on my own gumption this time.
So keep it in mind if you're quitting for the nth time! There will be many who supported you the first or second, but will just be sort of "yeah, yeah" when you try again.
I"ll be here to hold your hand and understand.

Hey Dot... Most of us quit several times before it stuck. I quit once and when i slipped up...i tried to hide my smoking to avoid the "i thought you quit talk" anyways...you keep the quit and hang on for dear life. We are all very proud of you! You are a good quit buddy...perhaps Getagrip could use a hand.

You're not the only one Dot. I too quit and failed many times. But you're right when you say you have to rely on your own gumption. That's just a truth it took awhile to learn that's all. You have to own your quit and quit for your own reasons but that doesn't mean we aren't rooting for you. As the old movie went...all you have to do is whistle [of course, if you smoke too much, you don't have as much breath so ...]
Hang in there Dot and never quit quitting.

Wow, yep that is exactly how I am feeling at the moment Dot, I am on my 3rd day of about hmmm..............my 4th try. I am almost embaressed to come back on here again since I feel so many might think oh here we go again. Yes everyone in my family and friend circle smile and say "thats nice good-luck" or "Hopefully you can do it this time" That is why doing it for me is so very important this time. It cannot be for anyone else or any reason but my own. Hang in there Dot, I am not liking life right at the moment either, my Husband just says stop dwelling on it. yeah right Thanks to Slim my buddy insisting I come back here I am. Nice to see so many familar names.

I"m sorry I haven't paid as much attention to the board lately. Please don't feel embarassed about trying to win. You're the parade, others are the watching & cheering crowds. Do what it takes to quit and the heck with everything else. You can apologize in the future. Or say you're sorry now, then the heck with everything. This is a war that you don't want to lose.
