Crying and Quitting
From Janeullrich
Quitnet
I don't know about anybody else, but crying was a very real part of my quit.
I was forever on the verge of tears for about the first month. I can't tell you how many times I ended up in the ladies room at work for my daily weepfest. I never knew when it was coming. Half the time I didn't know where it was coming from. My emotions were zig-zagging all over the place. I was crying in the cat food aisle in the supermarket to mourn the cat that ran away when I was twelve. I cried over Hallmark commercials. I cried over roadkill. I cried when I was happy. I cried when I was sad. I cried when I was confused. My hormones only made things worse.
Hubby quit with me too. He wasn't having much fun either. I never actually saw him cry. But he had "that look" on his face a few times. I made like I didn't notice. A man does have his pride.
I must tell you that crying really does have a many redeeming qualities. We are the only species that sheds tears from emotion. Animals feel things just as we do, they just don't cry about it. And they certainly don't post on the Q.
I'd like to give you a few examples on why it's not only ok to cry, but why crying is downright beneficial.
Crying is cleansing. It helps rid the body of toxins and other nasty stuff that's been lurking for so long.
Sobbing can be aerobically beneficial. Those Racking, Cut you in Half Sobs are actually good for your upper and lower abs and actually strengthens your lower back muscles.
Weeping brings much needed circulation to your face. Those lovely red blotches make you look like you've spent the day in the fresh air.
Crying alleviates sinus pressure. Blowing your nose rids your sinuses & throat of unsightly mucus and Gob.
Crying, weeping & sobbing burns calories. So eat yer chocolate and have a good cry. It's almost as good as a brisk walk or 5 minutes of sex.
I'm sure all the people in the tissue industry are thankful for people like ourselves who have quit and aren't afraid to cry. The tissue industry depends on YOU! You are putting food on someones table as we speak.
I hope this post makes you feel a little better. A little less alone.
Here's a hug and a tissue. Cry me a river and keep that beautiful quit
