Aw, y'all rule! Thanks for the kudo's.
Dang, six years....of course my meter is still poking along...think it'll turn over some time this evening...
5 years, 11 months, 4 weeks, 1 day, 23 hours, 16 minutes and 35 seconds. 76,718 cigarettes not smoked, saving $9,589.87. Life saved: 38 weeks, 9 hours, 10 minutes.
Way back in '98 I NEVER thought I could see my meter with those figures on it. But here I iz.....with just a touch of emphysema (yup, and it's irreversible too, newbies, so quit while you're ahead!) and an aversion to the smell of cigarettes.
I can't tell you how much your words mean to me. I'm glad that I've had a positive impact on others. I'm a true believer that quitting smoking is possible, as long as your commitment and your attitude are in the right place. And I love to spread the word and be supportive 'cause I'll never forget the fear and trepidation I felt when I was thinking of quitting.
I've learned that one can't "try" to quit, you have to give it your heart and soul. For the first 6-12 months of a quit, a quitter must focus on the quit if success is desired; support is imperative and that's what makes this place so important.....and special.
I started hanging around the old just4u board before my quit, lurking around, admiring the oldies' meters. I absorbed anything related to quitting. When I finally decided to quit (with the help of zyban), the support was awesome. I swore that I'd always try to give support to anyone asking it because it means so much to know someone cares about your quit.
Just4u transformed into a "new" board, quitters came and went, but for the past 5 years or so there has been a core of wonderful supporters that have hung around to help newbies. I'm so proud to know you all!!!
And I want to extend special kudo's to two of the most persistent quitters I've ever met: batman & JP...Y'ALL ROCK!!! I knew you could do it!!! Don't ever quit your quit!!
So if y'all don't mind I'll be hanging around here, helping, laughing and sharing with you. A new addiction!!!

Six years Judy, that's the longest quit on the board...I think. Thanks for all you've done for me. I know that you helped me many times when I was ready to cave. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.
