Was in here a long time ago. Just wanted to share. Found out before x-mas my hubby Roger has lung cancer. What a slap in the face. He starts his chemo today. Haven't slept very well for bout a week. Afraid to get on sleeping pills don't wanna get hooked on them. Rog been coughing most of the night and hollering in his sleep he must be in pain I am really very angry that Rog got this cancer. We try and eat healthy, exercise and we both quit smoking 9 years ago. Guess it's in his genes everyone in his family has had cancer. But since he quit smoking it WILL be a plus in his favor..... Cancer is in mine to.(I HOPE) My mom and dad both had it.... They say everything happens for a reason but I sure don't know why. I sure in the hell aint ready to be a widow have lots of plans yet for us in our old age. Anyways will keep you updated on his progress. Thanks for listening. KTQ GOING!!! Dorothy been quit since 6/29/2001. Roger been quit since 12/18/2001.

Prayers and good wishes for Roger and you Dorothy. I'm sorry you both are having to deal with this. But keep the faith, many cancers have been defeated. My FIL lived many happy years after being diagnosed. He was diagnosed at 59 and lived to be 81. Godspeed!

Dorothy, well wishes to you and hubby. Cancer runs heavy in my wife's side of the family. Gene's certainly can sway the course of our lives. However, my wife has both a sister and mother who are cancer survivors. The sister even works at a prominent cancer treatment hospital to help others. Father in law developed cancer 14 years after quitting smoking, so I know that quitting isn't the magical prevention--but it does help. IF there is any benefit to sickness, it's that it can draw people closer. Roger, get well soon, may this be but one of the bumps on the road of life.

Dorothy, I'm sending Roger and you prayers for healing and courage. The others are right...there are many survivors, and new successes every day. Keep the faith.

Hi Dorothy I want to send my support to you and Roger as well. there is no reason why Roger can't beat this cancer thing. Two factors are catching it early and keeping it from spreading. Either way, it's beatable! And don is very wise in saying that dealing with illness can bring family closer. I do pray that the Chemo does it's thing commando style and certainly a speedy recovery!
