Toots...3 days is AWESOME!! Get past day 3, that's a really really tough day. In fact a lot of the hard zones come in 3's. 3-days, 3 weeks, 3 months. It is so worth quitting. You probably can't imagine it, but after you quit for some time the thoughts of smoking don't even come to you. Whole days without nary a thought to something that ruled your life, sucked your wallet and your breath. Many of us quitters have moved on in our smokeless lives and if you can stick to this, fight thru the craves and outlast the grasp addiction has hold of you...well I can truthfully say you will live to never regret it and in fact celebrate your freedom.
Now then, life goes on smokeless or not. And in my smokeless life I'll share the following happenings in my life: The Girl's biopsy came back with nothing systemic (not lupus, nor thyroid, nor lymphoma). She still looks like she's wearing a leopard skin suit (I'm surpised no one thought is was leprosy). She starts school next week, but all throughout the summer as this thing covered more of her body she's had to address an audience of onlookers that she's got a skin problem and she's not contagious. The next step may be ultraviolet treatments, but at least for the moment the areas of redness are diminishing. On another front, she's had some really creepy text messages that prompted us to make a visit to the police station yesterday. There are just too many nutcases out there and while I personally handled similar issues with my son's phone, this time I'll let the cops address it first.
The Boy starts high school next week. Hard to belive he'll be able to drive next summer. Needless to say he's a little bummed about his free-time near an end. He's also getting near that age where a job soon kills any free time. He's due to grow up soon anyway and join the ranks of us adult wage slaves. Besides, car insurance and gas cost money.
Got another cpap machine today. Oh joy, the last time I tried to use one I could have thrown it down my staircase. This machine is a bit different and more friendly. I promised to give it a chance. It's on a rental basis I'm told...try before you buy...or break. I was told that it might be a good idea to have a few drinks before I use one again to calm me down (the irony being that alcohol is one of the things that really exacerbate sleep apnea).
The drought still lingers here. Got a red cedar tree that turned almost all brown. I'm trying to water it every day but I don't think I'm going to win the battle. It will probably join my dead raspberry garden, a dead lillac bush and a dead pine tree. There's a river close by that is probably 4 feet lower than normal. In the spring that river would be about ten feet higher. Really strange weather we've had the last year.
Thinking about taking a fall trip south with the family this year. South Atlantic coast or Gulf side, or both. Slim, any good spots gulf side? I know you take trips down that ways.
That's all for now.
Smokeless and cigless since 10-27-99

Hello all
Still working too much and just coming up for air at this point. The good news is the bills are getting paid ;D
Toots toots Toots Congrats on say 4. It's a worthwhile challenge that very well can save your life! Keep the quit!
Don, Hopefully things will go well with your daughter....I am sure it's frustrating experience to deal with something like that....Just go away already!!!! As for the gulf Coast, we go to the Gulf Shores, AL area with white sandy beaches and lots of southern charm. Pensacola, FL and Mobile. AL are both interesting cities and lots to do. I have never been to the New Orleans coastal area..i am sure that would be cool too. If you want to go more south down the Florida Gulf coast....i am sure you will find lots to great coastal destinations. I hear about Fort Myers alot. I can say i haven't been to the Atlantic side in many years....not sure where to go.....but how can go wrong if you are on the water.
