Craves Only Have As Much Power As You Give Them
That's the truth. If you find yourself thinking, 'If this crave doesn't stop soon, I'll have to smoke', then believe me, the crave won't stop. If you think your spouse's grouchiness is going to make you smoke, then sooner or later it will. If you allow smoking to BE an option, then you will continue on until you find something to 'make' you smoke.
BUT, if you decide smoking is not an option, and repeat that to yourself 4,000 times a day (or as needed) and if you tell yourself 'This craving can go on forever, it doesn't matter....I don't smoke....no matter what' then you will succeed at quitting. Your attitude makes all the difference to your quit.

This is really an awesom post -- short and simply said, but the crux of this addiction. It's all about choices and the direction you want your life to proceed toward. Sort of like moving away from the darkness and toward the light.
