One year ago today, I started a new journey....
It really is a journey. This is just a brief stop, a milestone, to celebrate one year smokefree. Then it is onward and upward for the rest of the journey that will take the rest of my life to accomplish. It really doesn’t feel like an entire year of my life has gone by already. Those early days seemed to drag on and on and on. Then, I don’t know, I think after the first few weeks, the time just started to fly. So, you see, it can be done. You just have to want to quit more than you want to smoke. Quit now before you do any permanent damage to your body.
The first thing I had to learn starting this journey is that you have to accept is the fact that smoking is not simply a ‘bad habit’. You must come to accept that it is an ugly, nasty, vial drug ADDICTION. No less than a cocaine or heroin addiction, probably worse. Once you have accepted this fact, the more powerful your fight will be to overcome smoking. You must COMMIT yourself to one simple fact. Smoking gives you NOTHING! It does not relieve stress. It does not calm your nerves. That is only the power you have given it over the years of smoking. IT IS A LIE. You must commit that you can NEVER smoke again. Not one puff! You have to ALWAYS remember that you are a puff away from a pack a day. It is that simple. DON’T SMOKE, even if your****falls off! Your brain will beckon you over and over to have ‘just one’. DON’T LISTEN! It is a LIE! There is no such thing as ‘just one’. If you have been here for just a few days, you will see many a post of ppl that smoked. That one smoke opens a crack in the door big enough to let the sleeping Nicodemon back in. He has been waiting for just this opportunity. For most people, that is all the room the Nicodemon needs to take over your life again. The only way you are GUARANTEED not to fail in this journey is to NOT SMOKE. It is that simple. It is not always that easy, but it is that simple. You CAN do this!! It get so much easier. I promise.
