I'm only on day 5, and doing so much better than I had ever imagined I would (so far). Anyway, what I'm really finding weird is that I'm actually realizing how much time not smoking frees up! I'm at home with my kids, and so I could sneak out to the garage any old time I felt like it...now, I'm finding myself searching for things to keep busy with, especially during those times where I'd go out and smoke, like after meals, etc. It's just odd. I had a night out with my husband (those are rare) and was a little worried to be in an atmosphere where there would be drinks and people smoking. It was a chance I took because we REALLY needed a night away from the kids. I did okay having some wine without needing to smoke. I do have to admit, there was a smoker at the next table over, and I did rather enjoy taking it in second hand! Is that terrible? Who knows, but so far I've done okay. Just sharing, thanks for listening. J

J, I remember that odd feeling of having a lot of time on my hands. Instead of sitting at the table with coffee and a cigarette after a meal I got right up and started doing the dishes. It seemed funny to have the table cleared and the dishes done in less time than it would have taken to linger at the table and smoke a cigarette or two.
I too, used to like to take in second hand smoke. Not anymore though. I find second hand smoke very offensive and resent having to be exposed to it. I NEVER thought I'd feel that way!
You are doing great J. Glad you are with us. Hang in there and remember:
SMOKING IS NOT AN OPTION!

The more you post your thoughts and experiences the better off you are I think. It's good for all of us to Remember Day 5 and newbies bring that back. I'm here partly because I don't want to go back to day 5 if you know what I mean and also I hang out to help people like yourself beat down the addiction that is so hard to lay down it seems! It's nice to see others win this battle and you are on your way j.
I must tell you that putting triggers in your path is dangerous.....I just didn't drink for a few months when I quit to avoid the temptation...glad you made it thru that one!! Another big trigger for me was the "i just completed a task or job smoke" watch out for that one. I would grab for a smoke and then realize that I quit. the power of this habbit is amazing!
Keep your quit going J and lets get one week under your belt.

Second hand smoke is the way to go!
I still like the smell but when I go into a bar now where it's thick with smoke, my eyes burn and I have a hard time breathing...and in that quantity it doesn't smell good.
Sure, you gots lots more time now! 5-10 minutes wasted puffing toxic waste x 20 times or more each waking day. Now what to do with all that extra time after sex? Cuddle?? ;D

Don, you make me laugh! As far as smoking after sex...I haven't smoked in my home since 1998. So, I'd have to go down the stairs and to the garage! Isn't that romantic? J

...the garage CAN be a very romantic place!
Parked convertible...hum, hum...
I married that gal, so I can say this.
Maybe later I can be in one of those commericials for, ahem, "enhancement"....'when a casual moment becomes the right moment....'
On a related note, I had to sell that car after we started a family.

Well now, us "old timers" remember the good times. Only now instead of having mirrors on the ceiling over the bed, they're on the ceiling over the dining room table!
