Just to get something going here, I'll start with this. (Let's be realistic!) By September 12, I plan to lose 5 pounds. More importantly, I'd like to lower my percentage of body fat at least two more percent. Right now it's about 37% way, way too high. How about you???

Well Dot. I'm more agressive than you are I guess. By Sept. 12th, I plan on losing at LEAST 10 lbs. I hope more. I haven't measured my body fat. Too scared. Yikes.

Pattib, I'm keeping my goals small for a reason. I'm trying to get in better shape by building muscle and not doing a lot of dieting, other than watching the fat content some. Did you know that a pound of muscle burns up 50 calories a day just sitting there? A pound of fat? 2 calories!! So I figure if I can change about 10 lbs of fat for 10 lbs of muscle, I can keep eating and eating and eating.......

Well my short short term goal is to finish up losing the remaining 10 pounds BEFORE I leave on vacation (July 13) which is a bit optimistic I know but I am working on it. I don't weigh myself but when my clothes start popping buttons I know it is time to address the problem rather than buying fat clothes.
Being in France for 3 weeks I know I will be enjoying the culinary delights so I am going to have fun, try to be sensible but am not going to let it spoil my holiday.
So the next short term goal when I return (Aug. 4) is to get back on my treadmill, use my weights and Pilates DVD's and get serious about toning, and eating sensibly. The post on blood sugar helped me to understand why I gain 20-25 pounds when I quit smoking. Maybe this time around I will use my brain.

Kit, I always heard that the French diet is not as fattening as we imagine...they are more into "quality" and not "quantity". Enjoy every bite! This kind of opportunity doesn't come along every day!

My 3 month goal is to be able to get INTO my fat clothes! ;D ;D ;D
Seriously, I want to lose at least 8 lbs by Sept. 12. Is that possible? Without starving I mean?
