Good morning all you quitters! November...well, doesn't the atmosphere change once we enter November? I suppose the logical thing is to look to Christmas now. Sheesh! I really got a big kick out of Ellen Degeneris' Halloween costume this year -she blew up a picture of her cover shot on Oprah's magazine and had a cut out for her face - it was hilarious - so clever. I also came across Halloween candy this year consisting of body parts - teeth, eyes, fingers - again - hilarious. My dad broke his hip on the weekend. They will be operating on Wednesday. Poor thing. Happy November everyone. Stay smoke-free!

We had a cold or wet October and so far it's looking nice for November. Daylight Savings Time has fallen back to Standard time...soon I'll be arriving and driving home from the office in the dark. The family and I went down the road to a neighbors Halloween party...I was the vampire, perhaps you noticed I was the only one . Flo, sheesh your dad is having a rough time lately...wishes for a quick mend! Still cigless since:10.27.99

Flo sending in a prayer for your dad. Had a cold wet weekend and didn't get much yard work done but this week is supposed to be a bit more sunny so may get out and about. Still smoke free.

Thanks for your good wishes for my dad everyone. He was quite disoriented on Sunday when we went to see him but by Monday, he was more settled. Hopefully the operation will go smoothly and he will be back on his feet again. Yes, he is having a rough time of late. He was saying on Sunday, I'm almost done now. I'm nearing the end. Of course, he's been saying this for the last 10 years so it's more drama on his part than insight...but still, the poor thing is getting on now and he may be right. The doctors say that he will not be able to come home again so we've got him on a waiting list at a home which is just a block away from my mom and which was one of the reasons they bought the house to begin with. They are looking at a month to three months for the wait which is not too bad. The home is set in the park which has a lake where people come to fish and there are ducks and now there are these huge mansion type homes on the other side of the lake. Property prices hey?!! Anyhow, we are going one day at a time.
My uncle died a couple of weeks ago and we will be making a trek down to Portland, Oregon where my mom's side of the family lives and they will be holding a memorial service for him on Nov 14th. It will be good to see everyone again.
Well, all of this is difficult but made a little easier now that I don't smoke. I probably would have been chain smoking during all this but now I am able to keep the calm. Thanks for your support everyone.

I am the late bird as usual. Thankfully I am not that way in my home and work life. I am smoke free also and celebrated 50 months today. Very grateful chick here.
Flo I am so sorry about your dad and will say some prayers for him that his healing not too difficult. Also, sorry to hear about your uncle. Isn't it nice you can go through this smoke free though. Like you said, you probably would have been chain smoking through all that. I am the same way. When I smoked, whatever stresses or losses came my way, my first instict was to light up. So grateful I don't have to do that today and am grateful you don't have to either. God bless you dear one and you and your family will be in my prayers.
Karen

Thank you very much Karen for your kind thoughts and prayers. This site is small but the hearts are big and I am truly grateful to be a part of it.
My dad had his operation last Tuesday and is recovering quite nicely now. The staff at the hospital are really great and that makes a world of difference to my dad. Thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers.
