I found out this afternoon that I have a tumor in my right lung. So next week starts the rounds of specialists. I haven't told my children, and really don't want to talk to hubby about it.

Of course all of you remember me. 10 years ago, I was a regular here, and with your help, I quit for 2 1/2 years. Oh I've tried again here and there, for a day or two or three, and just can't get up the desire or strength to quit. So I cry.
2011 has been a horrid year for the Smith family. My DH was diagnosed with Alzheimers, and even though he's not really bad yet, it has been a year of doctors and tests, etc. Needless to say, I've had to take over more and more of the things he used to do, and stress over it all. I've fought insurance companies, banks, and lawyers.
This year also brought the death of a family infant, some serious ill ness of family members, and some things like broken bones here and there. And I had to put my beloved dog to sleep.
Then there's the small stuff, like septic problems. Just this month, the furnace blew up, a light switch screwed up, the oven went out and mixer quit in the middle of Christmas baking.
Just last week, my grandson was t-boned at a stop light, totalling his old car.(they are very poor). So now I'll have to help shuttle he and his mother back and forth to school.
The final blow came saturday, when I took a bad fall on my concrete porch...bruise on my head and knee, and a totally swollen left hand....typing one handed.
I'm trying to housebreak and train a new Scotty puppy...the most stubborn of breeds.
I've been living with a cigarette in my hand, and with antidepressants and xanex. None of which changes a d**n thing .
Thanks for "listening". It only hurts when I laugh.
And old buddy, Dot

Dorothy, I am so very sad for you! I know you will miss your traveling companion.
I haven't checked in here for such a long time, as I still smoke. And somehow I lost your email address. I hope we can get in touch again.
Love, Dot

Here I am, and glad to be! It was 70 here yesterday! Whoopie! I know winter's not over yet, but it's nice to have a day or two to open the windows. I'm still in the process of getting the smoke smell out of my house.

Dorothy, I'm sending Roger and you prayers for healing and courage. The others are right...there are many survivors, and new successes every day. Keep the faith.

Good morning Ann and all. Should be about 46 here today, and we dodged another snow. Can't complain.

Well, Hey MK! Nice to see you around! I really wish we could get all the old gang together....smoking or not...and have a reunion. One of these days, I may just start sending emails to the old addresses and see what comes up.
Take care, Dot

That's funny, Don. One of my son's quit smoking every New Years for about 10 years, then would start again in July. It was just like a schedule he had to keep! He finally decided not to start again, so has been quit for 4 years now. He's a real hero for me.

"You never quit quitting. Keep it up. You will win one of these days."
It seems like I go through annual cycles. I will be smokefree for a year or more, then decide I want to smoke, go buy a carton, and smoke for 6 months. Then I'll quit for another year. It's not a matter of win or not! It's more of what mood I'm in from year to year.....not a good way to be, but it is what it is!

Hi Don...I agree with those bears! Maybe if we sleep all winter, we can stay awake all summer. I"m still trying sooooo hard to quit again, amid a lot of personal difficulties. But now I've got 18 days and holding.... Dot

Well, here's old Dot dragging in. We got a pretty good snow yesterday....that makes two big ones this winter...rather unusual, and I'm hoping that's it for the winter.
OK...so it's 1-11-11, and this am, I have 11 smoke free days. It really should have been 11 years by now, but what can I say???
Happy new year, everybody.

Well, guess who is here again, for the umpteenth time! It's so hard to believe I quit first on the old just4u board, at least 10+ years ago. The first quit lasted 2 1/2 years, thanks to the great group that was here then. Then I'va also had another 2 or three long dry spells...1 or 1 1/2 years. It would be so nice if this group was still as active as it once was, and I appreciate those of you who have stayed around to be helpful and keep it alive. I've often thought of emailing all the old people to check in and have a "reunion" on a certain day! Happy New Year, and Peace to all Dot Four days, 8 hours, 40 minutes and 4 seconds. 174 cigarettes not smoked, saving $28.35. Life saved: 14 hours, 30 minutes.

Here I am too. Am I the only one who hasn't made any effort to decorate for Christmas? I gave my 55 year collections of ornaments to my daughter last year, so no more tree at my house. But the Manager will come out, and the wreath goes on the door. And of course the baking will start! Stay busy and warm, everybody. Dot
