Wecome to our happy little home Blake. I saw your post on the "new members" post, and decided you needed your own. Anyone who can go through all you did on your first day deserves a post of their own. This place is usually pretty quiet on the weekend. But someone pops in from time to time. Read old posts here, and at the site Slim posted on the other thread, which was our old board. We don't know if the old one will be around much longer, as the owner has recently passed away. There's a lot of sage advise to be had at both places, so pull up a comfortable chair and read. Post often, it really helps to get it out. Crying is normal in the beginning, so don't be ashamed. We look forward to getting to know you. Hang in there, it does get easier.

Thanks for the welcome.
Is it normal to think about when you are going to get to smoke again, and then, you realize you aren't?
Day 2 and counting.

Yes, very normal. Your first couple days and even weeks are consumed with thought of "just one" "if only" "I miss" "Why did I quit?", etc. Nicotine controlled every part of our lives up's and down's, high's and low's, sad and happy, waking and sleeping - EVERYTHING!!!! Now you need to learn to live with out them and to create different diversions to get you over the craves.

Well I did alot of work in the backyard today to keep my mind busy. I am also hanging out with a non-smoking friend of mine alot more now.
Now comes the evening time when I used to smoke alot.
So far so good, the patch is working as intended.
Have a great day!

If I am to be honest...I not sure how I made it thru Hell week. Every hour was painful and I had huge desires to give up and smoke. I did find that cravings would subside after a while as i drowned myself in the bb or surfing for info.
I know I made the decision to quit and searched for help online and found this bb. I wasn't sure I could make it to far but wanted to give it a serious effort! I had desire and lots of good reasons to quit but finding this bb was the secret ingredient that I never had on previous attempts to quit.
Looking back I was encouraged to keep on keeping on, to stay quit no matter what, that smoking was not an option, that no one ever died of a craving, and slowly the truth began to surface in my mind. All the lies I told myself for years started to sound silly, and I began to believe that I could quit...that I could make it to day 4 and 5.
Blake you can make it! Don't worry about day 10 or day 30, just focus on the next hour. Get your self a meter to track your success. Do whatever it takes to stay quit...cause it really is worth it.

Thank you Slim. You brought tears to my eyes.
And yes, the cravings are still there but I haven't given into the beast.
I don't plan on it either.
I hate smokers.

If your crying after reading posts you are on your way blake. I did the same thing in my first couple weeks. You get so emotional during detox and your eyes start to open again after being clouded by the smoke for so many years! And remember, We are all ex smokers or people that still smoke and want to quit...so we hate smoking but not the smokers. Of course that is what you meant to say but because you are in Hell week your fingers typed one thing and your mind thought another- right? We have all been there! We are here to help smokers who have decided NOT to smoke anymore or are in the process! Your experiences could help someone else out who wants to quit. Just one more thought: P.S. if your interested, the link below takes you to my early days of quitting when I was crying on my keyboard. I think it 's good to get it all out. southbeachfriends.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=298&forum=33

Slim,
Yes I got passionate about hating smokers when I truly meant smoking.
Today is day 3, and I think I am going to be ok.
Thanks for the inspiration. I need it.
Gave a great Sunday!

The demon is really getting to me this evening. I want to smoke but I know I can't, therefore I will not allow myself to smoke.
God please give me the strength to make it to Monday.

I think I got control of it. I called a few friends that are non smokers and they helped me cope with the pain.
Monday is a no brainer. It's Tuesday that I want to get to.
Thank you for all your support. I am trying to get a few close friends to quit also. I tell them everything I have learned from this bb.

Monday is a new day. W#orking on getting day 4 past me should be interesting.
Three days, 7 hours, 41 minutes and 52 seconds. 116 cigarettes not smoked, saving $17.43. Life saved: 9 hours, 40 minutes.

Welcome Blank and kudo's on your progress so far. It's difficult, but when you're determined not to become a slave to the nicobeast - no matter how tempting it is to take that easier road - you WILL succeed!!
If you want to convince smoking friends to quit, forget it. Everyone quits when they're ready. However, by showing them that quitting is possible, you will likely inspire some to quit.
We're all here for each other, looking forward to watching your quit mature!!!

The gentlemen that sits in the next cubicle over smokes. When he came into the office this morning, I could smell him sitting 8 feet from me. I had to get up and leave because he smelled so bad.
I noticed alot of people smoking today while driving. I felt sorry for them. I hope one day they will have the power to quit the beast.
I am on the patch and Zyban. Is it normal working on day 4 to get slight twiching ? My finger is twiching today. Very weird.
Have a great day!
