OH Bubb, I'm so sorry I missed your big day. Congrats anyway. Eight years is a mighty fine notch in the belt! I'm very proud of you and thanks for all your posts. You kept me on track many a time in my early days as a quitter!

Does it bother you because he can smoke and you can't? I mean, are you jealous that he smokes? Don't be. Take a good look at him Country. He doesn't look so healthy and it's not going to get any better if he doesn't quit smoking. He probably says he doesn't care, but I think he would care if he suddenly found out he was sick. You can't control his smoking....only your own. Don't be jealous that he's getting to enjoy his cancer sticks and you can't/won't. I think you are the smarter one just for that fact alone! He knows he's bugging you...so don't let him know. Pretend that it doesn't bother you. The old expression "fake it until you make it" means just that. The longer you pretend something doesn't bother you the sooner it won't. I feel for ya because I know I would have had a lot harder time if Dave hadn't quit first. Darn your hubby. You did say he doesn't smoke around you though, so I guess that's something. Hang in there. Keep the quit forever!

Bubb says, " I guarantee that before you've even finished that first smoke, you'll regret having lit the d**n thing." I so agree with him....ask us how we know.....

I doubt that it will always be that way. Sometimes we tend to dwell on things too much and not let our minds move on to other things. Try some meditation or relaxation tapes. I found that listening to relaxing music helped me a whole lot.

Three months IS a long time when you are fighting the urge to smoke all the time. So, be very proud of yourself that you have gone 3 whole months without smoking and that you intend to keep right on doing it! I'm sure proud of you Country! Yep, I surely am!

It is very common to have those feelings, country. It's your brain trying to tell you it wants it's nicotine fix. It is up to YOU to tell your brain to take a brake, that you are not going to give in....period! NOT EVER! It takes quite awhile, longer than 3 months, for those negative feelings and the cravings to completely go away. You've been smoking for a long, long time, so why would you expect to be able to just quit with no unpleasantness? You need to face reality and just tell yourself that there is nothing more important than you not smoking. Keep saying it over and over if you have to. I want you around for a long time....so hang in threre! You can do this. YOU, can do this. No one can do it for you. When you celebrate your one year anniversary I will take you out to dinner at the restaurant of your choice. Just me and you though...no one else allowed, unless they want to pay their own way....ha ha.

A dear friend of mine begged me to come back here. I did so, but now I see she is hardly ever on. She rarely posts, but will send me emails asking why I don't come here. What's up with that? I hope everyone is doing well. Summer is drawing to an end. I see the leaves on my maples are starting to fall. I'm not ready for summer to give way to fall yet. I LOVE fall, but then comes the nasty winter which I DO NOT love! All you newly quit folks keep hangin in there. It does get better and all the discomfort you are going through is well worth all the benefits of being an ex-smoker! Keep on keepin' on!!!

Well, everyone sounds like they made it through the holiday all in one piece and no backsliding!!! Yay quitters! I'm so over smoking and I can only thank God for that because none of the aids I tried worked for me. But, I'm glad that part of my life is over with! 4/24/00

Look at all of these quitters & winners ^ Very very good! The water in my area is receding and in its place we have a bumper crop of mosquitoes. I actually take the dogs out wearing a rain coat, so only my hands and some of the face get bit up. 10-27-99 lol don, I thought you meant the dogs were wearing a raincoat!

Hey Colleen, good to hear of your success! Hope you'll drop back in more often. I know what you mean about not thinking about smoking. It's like that was in another lifetime. Glad it's over for us, but many are still struggling. Keep up the good work all you strugglers. It's way worth the fight.

I'm here Country, and smoke-free. Hubby's brother has been sick and we've been with them the last couple of days. We canned salsa out there Monday and yesterday we went to the county fair, today we had to go to emergency because brother was taken in. He's back home...for now. Hope you are doing grreat, and everyone else too. It seems like it is still really hot, but I guess it is a little cooler. I can't wait until the nights get down into the 40s and 50s.
