Thanksgiving in the US. What am I thankful for? Family, friends, smokeless buddies...pause. We choose this path to smokelessness and we encounter people with similar dreams on this road. At the time I never knew that I would think of fellow quitters as friends. This whole Internet thing revolving around the written word, posted for all. Who would have thought that all of this had any real meaning, oh but it did! To which I am very thankful for. I remain cig-free, in part to all that are part of this smokebusters 'family'. Thank you all. I'm left with that final question: what do we do now that we're smokeless? The answer is simple, really, we live smokeless. We adapt to a life where we cope without a cig. We walk without our crutch, limp as we may but forward we march.
Let's go all you smokeless wannabees! Live! Live until our number is called. It isn't our health that is in jeopardy, it's our free will and I choose not to smoke.

Random observations:
Yep year winding down and shopping season cranking up. Christmas music on the radio and in the stores.
The Great American Smokeout is Thursday the 17th. I'm prepared!
I have new shovels and the snowblower gassed up...now I just have to find someone to use them for me while I stay inside sipping hot cocoa.
I have 4 dollars in my pocket...that's not enough to buy a pack of cigarettes anymore.
As the cost of driving goes up, sick days look cheaper.
Ok that's enough for now, have a great week everyone!

The year is almost over! Can't say that I'll miss it but the time surely has passed by in a flash.
Clocks adjusted for the season. This time of year gets me down as the days shorten, the leaves drop along with the temps and bell tolls the approaching winter. As much as I don't care for snow at least it's pretty.
Smoking, just not gonna happen. 10-27-99

Jumping a lot between work and home. The Girl is supposed to have her arm pins removed later today and arm re-casted. She's really on the mend now and back at school walking fine. I'm waiting for that magical day when none of us are having a bad day since nature abhors a vacuum and all that.
And with that said, it's back to work....Keep The Quit!!
ps...thinking of you Dorothy.

Home with daughter today. She's well enough that she may go back to school tomorrow or the next day. So things are getting back to normal...whatever that is.

Dorothy, my hearfelt condolences. I had really hoped for better news, truly. Many things are beyond our power nor understanding of purpose. I wish my words and thoughts provide at least some smidgen of comfort. While it must be hard for you, I thank you for sharing this information with us.

Thought I'd post to the roll now since I won't be around on monday morning and have a free moment.
Last week started off busy at work and then life changes in a moment. That moment was my daughter falling 10~12 feet from a tree in the ajoining woods and screaming bloody murder. I carried her out of the woods and to the hospital where she had surgery to pin her left arm back together. She injured her pelvis where the spine meets and hasn't been able to walk yet. On Monday we see the surgeon again and hope the arm swelling is down enough to move to a permanent cast. She's able to sit up on her own now so the pelvis is showing some improvement. She will heal but this could had easily been horribly worse. Got to look on the positives where I can and at least I'm still able to carry her around--barely~she's getting too big and I'm getting old'er. On the plus side I get to spend a lot more Daddy-Daughter time.
Ya know I heard that long quiet smoke voice tempting me. Below my daughter's room outside the ER side door I saw someone smoking. That look he had said it all, worry. Each drag and forced exhale looked as if he was hoping the smoke would take his worry from him.
The dawn of a new day is peering thru the slats on the window. Soon we'll draw the blinds and welcome the new day with the hope that it brings.

Hi Dorothy, I'm so sorry about the hell you've been dealing with this year. Smokefree and good living does not necessarily trump genes. Cancer is something I've come to know thru my wife's side of the family where it runs very very thick and just two weeks ago her other sister just had her breasts removed.
I will say this, never give up hope. We all hear about the tragedies and we also hear about the miracles. Miracles do happen and medical science can nudge those miracles along.
One person does not get sick in a family, there's an impact crater that affects those around. I wish you good thoughts, prayers, blessings and little gifts of happiness whenever possible. Tell Rog, for what's it's worth, there are far away friends made possible thru this place, pulling for him and you Dorothy. He's not alone and that can make a difference to life and recovery.

Yeah I know, another notch on your belt. One step closer to that breakfast discount! Enjoy the day Slim! I hope it's rememberable and doesn't make the newpapers in shame.

How about that, another week comes around and another week without a cig hanging out of the mouth.
Sure gets quiet around here. I guess that's a good sign. that means people are getting on in their lives instead of being perpetually tortured by an addiction.
Life is busy on my end. Both kids are entering the teen/tween years. Hey Slim how are you handling the kids?? Yours are about the same as mine with the genders mixed.
I would go crazy but believe it or not there is already a line for that and I got to take a number.
Oh well. I gave up smoking, not beer. I'll leave that vice for another board and another time.
Chime in people! Be proud of your QuitTime!!

It's that time again, Roll Call anyone?
Officially Fall. Almost October already. Time ticks away.
Ticking away the hours that make up a dull day...
How be you smokeless wonders?

I remember Sagitelle. Very sad news to hear even though the event itself is long past. We meet many on this long Quit road and even though we may never meet face-to-face we get an impression of each other with our writings. My french is horrible, but my thoughts are universal.

Back from a fishing vacation in upper wisconsin. Nice weather at first and then fall came roaring in. The big news up there that our friend Karen can attest is a big fire in the forested boundary waters between Minnesota and Ontario.
Not much of a restful vacation as the pressures of work and home were never too far from my thoughts, but at least I have sunburn on my nose.

"The Kids" start school tomorrow, the moans and groans echo in the house. It's been a really wierd summer. Ups and downs. Can't say I'm looking back with wistful joy. Gotta keep looking forward. Onward!
